You don't necessarily become attracted to someone as soon as you meet them; an attraction can grow after time. I didn't gloss over it. I read the entire article. The article says after that about when they first met and his time at the fast food joint. So that's obviously talking about them seeing each other off and on in passing until whenever he left there. Dunno how often because her son managed the place not her, but she would have been around. That's not grooming. They literally saw each other whenever she would have gone there. Then they only come across each other again after he left, years later by accident (this is the part you are ignoring) which is what actually lead to the romance.

The big thing for me is that the son was the restaurant manager not her. If it was her the grooming thing would be far more likely and I would 100% agree with FQ something sketchy went on. Unclear whether her behavior was predatory based purely off of TC's post. "Seen each other" is ambiguous while "dating" is not. It is possible that she groomed him as a teenager, but grooming is not in and of itself pedophilia, though that behavior tends to heavily overlap with it; generally pedophiles will dump their victims once they reach a certain age, and this is sort of the reverse.

Grooming someone to be with you once they are an adult is not pedophilia, but it IS predatory... but again, not enough evidence to make that call based upon what's been presented.
