They can actually be used cleverly even if you didn't originally create them. Especially if you use it in a place that flips it's original meaning. I do get what you're saying. But I don't see it so black and white. Plus, who cares if someone feels like they made others laugh through cheap use of a meme. Why you wanna take that from them? What do you gain? To avoid a minor inconvenience?
