I would not investigate at all. I'd leave the house, I'd call my friends and family about it, call the cops, call a spirit medium or whatever is practical. If you're talking about how Black people in movies are quick to believe in ghosts and White people refuse to, even when there's evidence of the supernatural, that goes back to old racist stereotypes about who's superstitious and who's not.
