The last job I quit, my boss's boss just kinda smiled at me in the hallway for 2 weeks, since he was too socially awkward to talk to me.

If you don't need to, why not?

If TC has a job lined up, there is no reason to. You only do so if:

-You don't want to screw over friends there
-You want a reference
-You're friends with the boss and don't want to screw them over

You think they'll give you 2 weeks notice if they decide to fire you? Lol.

One reason to give it is future employers sometimes ask if you gave 2 weeks notice. I found my former manager's notebook once and it was one of the points he highlighted about a potential employee he interviewed.

I mean sure you could lie but that can be risky. At my job anyway we sign an agreement to give notice.

You don't HAVE to list where you worked previously.

Just make them feel heard and don't burn any bridges you don't have to on the way out.

Me neither until I saw it in his notes.

But it makes sense since they probably don't wanna hire someone who will leave them hanging.

If you have large employment gaps that's a red flag and they'll question you about it. Better come up with some story like you were taking care of a sick family member.
