The planet is f***ed.

well, technically we can't get any hotter than the hottest since all that co2 from fossil fuels is a result of previous eons of life... the total energy of the system doesn't change a whole lot.

Worst case scenario we'll end up dead in a new Eocene-style period... but the planet will go on and make new things.

That is simply untrue.

The earth isn't a closed system with respect to energy. Energy is constantly being blasted towards the earth from the sun.

While the amount of carbon (or any and all elements that form greenhouse gases) is fixed, there is no reason to think that historic greenhouse gas amounts achieved some maximum we could never surpass.

I'm sorry, were you going for a metaphorical meaning when you said "technically, <scientific claim>"?

Democrats argue amongst themselves and refuse to fight for even a modest carbon tax of $15 per ton of CO2. Each dollar per ton translates to roughly one cent increase per gallon of gasoline for consumers. This is well below economist-recommended carbon tax values of $100 per ton, roughly a $1 increase per gallon.

The planet is fucked.

Poor people can't afford a $1 increase.

Climate change disputes happen for various reasons. While Al Gore may have been seen as a champion for his movie it would have been better if he had remained silent. His information was incomplete and, frankly, flawed. Meanwhile in the modern world many problems persist. It's not just how the common citizen lives but many factors such as the mass production of concrete. Meanwhile governments force, frankly meaningless, bans upon things that many people feel are normal. Things like plastic straws. Meanwhile a wealth divide between the wealthy nations and the poor ensures that the poor nations, often wanting to simply not be poor anymore, refuse to listen since they see the wealthy as attempting to lock them out of progress. Progress that they have attained and are now, frankly, denying them. In said wealthy nations the rich use their money to live a frankly hedonistic lifestyle while the poor hold simple luxuries, such as burgers and meat, as their relief from their miserable lives. A relief that the wealthy now say they must live without while they, of course, continue to live their luxury lifestyle. While the poor are forced to eat cricket burgers they get expensive cuts of meat and wine. The poor are forced to use public transport and bicycles while they drive luxury cars many can't even consider owning now, let alone in a future where such things are even more exceedingly expensive. The poor suffer brown-outs as coal and oil power plants are shut down while the rich can afford personal and private generators that ensure their massive manors are always lit up.

Why wouldn't you be opposed to such an outcome. You are forced into hunting deer in the wild and living off bread and water while they gorge themselves while preaching that you should be guilty. It doesn't help that many who preach such things also live in cities, producing massive amounts of smog and carbon emissions, while chastising those who live on rural farmland and small towns with no concept of what their life is like. They hold multiple massive manors while others struggle to afford to own even a simple house. There is no way they'll accept that their entire lifestyle needs to change because some rich Hollywood elite tries to guilt them with perceived moral superiority. They tell people they must live indoors and not go out because of terror while they engage in massive parties and private salon visits. Parties in which they demand the staff wear masks while they refuse.

That's why they refuse to accept climate change. Not because they, necessarily, believe it's fake, but because the people who preach it the loudest are the wealthy who hold no understanding of their lifestyle while they strip away even the simple pleasures to chastise them.

Nobody wants an even minor increase in gas or energy prices. Sorry to say, but being uncomfortable is what is necessary to change behavior. Those who have alternate transport access will start using it more. Areas that have subpar public transit will face pressure to implement or improve it. Jack squat is going to be done until people and/or companies realize the true cost of emissions.

One way to have companies feel that squeeze (and make people think they're being squeezed) is to collect a carbon tax and distribute it as a rebate to every citizen. This would provide the psychological benefit of raising gas prices for consumers, encouraging ppl to think about more fuel efficient options.

This could be a stepping stone towards consumers also paying the cost of carbon: Remove the taxes paid by companies from the rebate fund, and then the rebate is based on "average citizen" carbon use. The average person would get back what they pay into it. Those who partake in more carbon-intensive lifestyles would pay more than they get back. Those who lead low emissions lifestyles get paid more than they pay in.

Or it just fucks over the world, and those people get screwed over for no reason Especially since with most people living paycheck to paycheck, many people wont have alternative options, or be able to find more fuel efficient ways of transportation. Its just a way to screw over poor people And probably a large group of people living paycheck to paycheck

Thats if companies will pay it. Or if you can make people make companies pay it. The problem is companies then raising the prices on stuff to not lose money. Which doesnt help the regular people if they have to pay more for the goods and gas And thats even if they want to give it back to the people

I didnt. I dont think it would be enough to cover the increase price of gas and the increased price of goods (which will come with carbon tax, if placed on companies) Im not even sure if the carbon tax rebates would be enough to make up for any of that, if we even get that money back. Because while you mention the rebates, I dont ever really see them giving us that money, tbh

I'm not going to watch that. Isn't that the building that would just melt things because it was like a giant magnifying glass? If it's that one then it shouldn't have even been made a video since they replaced the glass windows to fix the problem years ago.
