I don't see why anyone cares that children learn about all family types. It has nothing to do with sex.

While I agree, at 6 they are not always asking questions that they can understand honest answers to.

I dont think youre right about that. Tell a six year old that some boys like girls but some boys like boys/ girls like girls, etc and I think kids of any age can start to wrap their head around the idea

If these people railing against "the gay agenda" were living in the 50s, you can bet your ass they would be arguing against any depictions of mixed-race couples.

You should be fucking ashamed of yourselves.

I think you vastly overestimate what children understand at these ages. They still have no concept of time. Calendar days don't make sense to them, they only understand day and night. Some of them can read (a little) and some of them can do (very) basic arithmetic. If you are lucky, they can somewhat dress and groom themselves.

'Magic' thinking - like I can be Batman someday, or 'I think I'll turn into a whale and swim in the ocean when I'm older' will slowly start to fade, but is still very much a thing at this age.

And in answer to your statement about boys/girls, most will associate with their own sex at this age. Boys like boys and don't want anything to do with girls and vice versa.

Whatever. I'm done arguing with someone who obviously isn't around this age group very often.

Jesus Christ there are ways to frame homosexuality that don't require a deep understanding of sex, nor does it need to be something that children would confuse for friendships. This is just pathetic concern trolling

Kids that age understand that there's a difference between the relationship between parents and the relationships between unattached adults. They don't need to understand the finer nuances of those relations to recognize that it's a thing, and that means there is benefit in giving them a chance to recognize that some couples aren't heterosexual. They may not fully understand the implications of that, but exposing them to it at least lays the groundwork for normalizing it as they figure it out.

But I was around this age group often as my mom owned and operated a home care, while my grandma has been babysitting for even longer. And like Mead and Jen were saying, a lot of young children are smarter and more aware than you realize. And you are vastly underestimating what children can understand. By a lot. Eve the article I found talked about kids understand he basics of a relationship at 2-3. Which is younger than 6. And the basics would be stuff like understand that but every family is the same. You can stop talking if you want. Doesnt change the fact that you are incorrect about kids understanding different things. Some will pick it up easier than others. Doesnt mean the others cant pick it up

And when some kids dont really get it until they are older then that is okay, cause theyll already be in an environment where their peers are accepting of people who are different

Folks who are so resistant to this need to seriously chill. If we just teach kids to care for others and feel free to love who they love, that would benefit society in so many ways and we wouldnt have to keep arguing about this for decades.

None of this is new stuff, society just wasnt really enlightened enough to collectively realize some things until recent times. But this is the way things are whether you like it or not. So stop with this nonsense. Youre wrong about it, and it is time to stop.

I regressed badly when the therapy appointment was canceled.
