My dad is a late 50s year old grown man but he's always been unhygienic. He can drop a knife or fork or the floor and then continues to use them.

Before the pandemic I would catch him not washing his hands after toilet. I hear the toilet flush but I don't hear the tap from the sink.

He's fully vaccinated and so am I but he just won't stop contaminating my house by going to the groceries and then not washing his hands when he gets into the house and wont change clothes or shower.

He also helps handing out cutlery when we just tell him to sit down. He hands them out by holding the 'non handle' part with his dirty fingers.

This is shit. He's the elder and he's my dad. He won't listen and I can't tell him off.

the only saving grace her is that my father and his girlfriend have already had COVID (although they are what we would call "super-spreaders" >_>)

I don't keep in touch with my extended family, but my immediate family (parents and grandparents on my mother's side) are all paradoxically hardline conservatives / Trump supporters yet - thankfully - very pro-vaxx and pro-mask. Both of my parents are medical professionals by trade and have always been pragmatic about these types of things, and my dad's best friend nearly dying of Covid at the start of the pandemic helped snap them away from whatever right-wing downplaying / misinformation they were potentially absorbing prior to that point. I even overheard my mother say to my grandmother on the phone the other day that she's now ashamed to call herself a Republican based on the horseshit that people like DeSantis are pulling in regards to Covid response.

Apparently one of my cousins and his family is anti-vaxx, and he is currently in the hospital with Covid. I've always liked him and he's otherwise done lots of good in this world by fostering almost a dozen kids, so I truly hope he recovers and sees reason after this ordeal.

do pharmacies need the approval of both parents?

i heard of some instances where they would give shots to teens with no parents present(because theyre anti vax)

My brother isnt vaxxed. Its not like hes against it hes just lazy as fuck. Dude works full time but outside of work he does nothing but smoke weed and play video games. Shame because hes my older brother. Needs to grow up for real.

none that live around here. pretty sure everyone is vaccinated and anyone who wasn't wore masks all last year. there's like 9 of us working in healthcare/retail/school so it's not much of a choice

He's vaxxed and it's highly unlikely he'll "contaminate" the house by going out for groceries. The virus doesn't spread easily via surfaces. Changing clothes and showering after going out is also way overkill. Honestly it sounds like you're a bit overly paranoid about it and a little too harsh on him.

I would totally understand being frustrated at living with someone who refused to get vaccinated but he did do that.

Don't be afraid to tell him off about basic hygiene. Health and reputation is at stake here. Don't have to be angry about it. You can sit with him and say something like,"I notice you do these things, but it's not okay because"

I don't think he needs to shower most because he went outside.. unless he is sweaty, body odor etc or you know for sure he was in contact with someone who had. Definitely think it's a good idea to at least wash hands. I do personally clean groceries into the house, but I think you will be fine as long as he washes his hands often and properly.

it doesn't hurt to change your clothes.

I would take more caution if you have someone really immunocompromised in the house though.

That's not anti vax. It's on the other side actually, which is actually being extra cautious. TC is my mom right there to a T.

And vaccines don't prevent you from getting covid. Just from getting really sick and dying. You can still spread it to others and you can get sick for a couple days. Some people will have worse symptoms due to comprised immune systems as well.

It doesn't really matter since we have joint custody, neither one of us can make medical decisions without the others approval. The kids are also too young to make their own decision, and to top it all off she'd been filling their heads with the "you might not be able to have kids later" bullshit so they're also hesitant and don't want to be vaccinated.
