Will I enjoy and play this more as a portable on Switch? Will it perform differently? How much do I care about trophies/achievements or not?

Stuff like that

Yes. Sometimes Ill pick a game based on where its canon release would be. For example: Crash Bandicoot remakes on the PlayStation, and Super Monkey Ball on the Switch. Even if I would have preferred the former on the Switch, lol
I haven't been that strict based on legacy, but I will try to stay within the same console with a game I'm playing them in the same gen. Like playing Yakuza 0, then playing Kiwami on Xbox would feel weird

Not really. The default is Playstation; but I'll go PC if it's significantly cheaper, if it's suited better to keyboard/mouse, or if I want to LP it. Besides those the only other option I have the hardware for is Android, so that simplifies things a little bit anyway.

I like to get the technically best version if possible unless I want it portable. I don't worry too much about it though.

But doing that has made transitioning to next gen a little harder. I didn't expect such good BC and cross gen support, so having my games split between Xbox and PS is kind of inconvenient. Any brand loyalty has really been rewarded this gen imo.

Yes, I try to get the version PC for modding capability and having everything in one place that is easily accessible.

I play everything on pc but if it is an old game that has a crappy pc port or is only available via emulator I do have to decide if I should play gamecube or ps2 version. Sometimes I choose ps2 even if the performance is 50% worse because it has better audio quality. This just depends on the game. In some cases, the GameCube version is a no-brainer because it has both better audio quality and better performance (like for sonic heroes).

No because there will never be a situation where I pick Xbone or Switch over PS4

Like I got Two Point Hospital on PS4/5 awhile back, and played some of it, but just dropped off. I feel as though I would have played more if it was on something more accessible like Switch.

And now I'm doing the same again with Actraiser and Castlevania Advance

This was a common occurrence during the Genesis/SNES era.

It still is for retro collectors. I had to choose between the SNES and Genesis versions of Joe & Mac recently. I went SNES despite Console Wars telling me Genesis was the better of the two.
