Current Events > Lost Judgment topic *Spoilers possible, but not in first post*

I'm in Chapter 5 now, 10 hours in, finally getting into what feels like the meat of the story after a pretty slow start, imo.

Assorted thoughts:

- I like what they've done with side stories actually requiring a bit of detective work to open up. Instead of just going to a map marker and getting a scene, I might have to eavesdrop on a convo to find a term on the fake Twitter thing, use that to narrow down a search area, and then use a scanner to find the right person to talk to. It's small, but makes it feel more rewarding.

- This game looks good as hell

- This has my favorite combat in any RGG game. It's just so fluid, and you have so many cool moves.

- Chapter 4 was great

- There's a lot about the main plotline that would not make sense in the context of the American legal system, I feel, but I don't know enough about Japan's to say

This is doing the thing the first game did of really hammering in the main details of the plot. I get not wanting players to be lost, but have a little faith in them. For a detective, Yagami sure needs things spelled out for him.

It's a sequel in the sense that Columbo episodes are sequels. There's always another mystery out there.

Nah dude. People stop playing these games for days, and then they go deep into side stuff. The recaps are legit.

There didn't really need to be another mystery. This is like doing Rambo 3 after First Blood pt 2. His war ended.

I'm on chapter 6 with 30 hours in it, game's been really fun so far. I especially love how much better combat feels compared to the first game. I actually use Crane style now!! My favorite is Snake style, for the time being. So sleek.

I just feel the school stories section could've used some tweaks.

That's five new titles and two remakes. It's amazing what you can do when you set every game in the same cities.

Agree, this is like some Expanded DLC

but thing is, they are selling a Season pass now for 40 bucks with a new Story lol

So it's funny. They play up the new Snake Style as being relatively non-violent. It's mostly counters and holds and you can even use "EX Surrender" actions to non-violently take enemies out of the fight.

Thing is, you're by no means required to stick to just Snake Style, and also Snake Style has some quite violent EX Actions as well, lol.

I'm loving it. I just completed chapter 8 last night. I think I'm like 40 or 50 hours in though. I've spent more time on the school stories than on the main stories. The mini games are just so fun (except the bike races, glad I never have to touch that again). It's actually blowing me away, just how many different mini games are in this game compared to other RGG titles.

Also, I love the new snake style. The first time I used EX Surrender on the high school students had me dying of laughter. It's such a troll thing to do to someone lol.

Lol, I've actually thought it was weird how I'm this far in and haven't encountered the "main mini game"

You've got it backwards; it's going to be the last one because it's not on PC. It makes less financial sense to invest in a series they can't sell on PC.

Playing Judgment would help, but I've been surprised at how the game and plot seem designed not to rely on or spoil details from the last game.

You can jump straight in without too much issue. There are characters from the first Judgment in this game, so you'll miss a bit about their background, but it explains most of what you need to know. It does spoil things from Yakuza: Like a Dragon though, so be warned if you haven't played that yet.

I did play Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I didn't know these games were in the same universe.

Same cities, even! Lost Judgment takes place in Kamurocho and Ijincho. (Judgment was just in Kamurocho)

Chapter 9 now, still really high on this main plot. I've gotta tear myself away to get into the side stuff, lol. But I appreciate that it's (unlike the first game) letting me just mainline the story if I want without too many detours.
