Some people are simply mad about changing what a series is about or who the characters of a franchise are.

Imagine they announce Blade(the vampire hunter) 4, with Ryan Gosling taking Wesley Snipes' role. That'd suck, right? I, for one, would hate that change.

Now imagine Charlie's Angels 3, starring.... Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pratt and Jackie Chan. That'd be really, really stupid, right?

the 007 franchise's thing has always been to have a guy that looks stereotypically 1950s british, who uses gadgets, dresses sharply and who is kind of a womanizer. It's central to his character. Why is not welcoming any change to that instantly associated with incel rage and racists? I'm sure it will enrage incels and racists too, but there's other people too.

There have been another batman than Bruce Wayne. Another spiderman than Peter parker. Another thor. Another captain America. It's not uncommon. It's a tactic to sell comics. It's literally nothing new

That's before other artists have taken so many different viewpoints on each of the characters that it's impossible to say they're not completely different characters entirely with the same name. Is Bruce Banner an evil incest- committing rapist cannibal? Well if you read Old Man Logan he is!

But oh wait it's black spiderman? Now we have to throw a tantrum (despite the fact that Miles Morales is a great alternate take on him).

That's the issue here. They say it's supposedly all these other things, but yet the outcry only seems to happen if it's a sex change or color change.
