...was not properly belted in. She was sitting on both seat belts and workers did not notice that.

How do they fuck up so bad? Was it a rollercoaster? If so,there is sensors for shit like that and the workers are trained to check and make sure everyone is properly restrained by the seat belt and lap bar.

idk, read the article in the link. I just recently read about what happened myself. It made big news when it initially happened. Then most news sources didn't publish what was the outcome of the investigation. I had to search for it on the net.

I'm always skeptical of reports of operator negligence in these suits becuase invariably the park will blame the engineer and the engineer will blame the park.

But, in this case, fuck this park in particular. The owners immediately blamed the patrons and it sure seems like they fucked up. Still never can be sure with just news articles, but hope this family gets a big pay out.

What I read is that the sensors did go off but the workers ignored it. They couldn't figure out what set off the sensor so they.....turned the sensor off

I think the ride only holds something like 6 people? Seems like this shouldn't happen for so many reasons. Were her family members not making sure sure she was belted? And then the workers on top of that??

They're in a rush to get the trains out at a certain rate, or their performance metric is down. Unfortunately that rush causes them to miss important safety measures, in this case they failed to check if a little kid actually buckled them-self in (I also blame the parent, since they should check as well.)
The sensors wouldn't really help outside of telling if a train has a seat open still, since it doesn't actually indicate if the passenger is properly seated or in some cases actually fits, there are yellow lines to actually indicate if a passenger can safely ride, on rides with buckles it's if the buckle is attached fully and in some cases there is a yellow line.

According to the article it actually did tell them the belt wasn't buckled, but the operators failed to properly resolve the issue and sent it off anyways. Which I find odd, since the rides don't normally launch under such conditions.

This is the ride she was on.

https://youtu.be/iwlVObwIp6o

I honestly feel the parents were negligent as fuck as well. Who the fuck take aa six year old on that kind of ride? What fucin park accepts a six year old on that kind of ride? What kind of park doesn't fuckin quadruple check that a six year old is belted in on a rollercoaster? What kind of parents doesn't make sure their kid is belted in properly? Negligence all around but that park needs to go fuckin under forever.

Yeah, normally rides won't launch if a sensor is going off.

The OPS report did detail a 2019 email in which a patron said they were sitting on the seat belts when they were a passenger on the Haunted Mine Drop. After telling the operator they were not buckled in, the operator argued with the patron. After persistent arguing, the patron finally convinced the operator they were not sufficiently buckled in and the issue was fixed, the report said.

What kind of backwards ass amusement park hires people who argue with guests about being properly restrained?

I still don't get how they can launch the ride when the sensor is telling them the belts aren't buckled. That park needs to be shut down, how do you hire someone and not train them the same day they start working?

iirc the sensors told the ride operators that all were buckled, not that sure, maybe it was just that she was sitting on the seat belts , that were buckled.

No, it told them there was an issue.
The ride's control system alerted operators to the seat belt issue and prevented them from dispatching the ride. However, the report says, because neither of operators had received adequate training, the two operators kept incorrectly fastening the seat belt mechanism and launched the ride.
Which I still fail to understand how it launched under these circumstances, I know that Disney's drop tower doesn't require the belts to be buckled prior to launch. But that was a ride made decades ago.
So either the ride can launch without the seat belts fastened, or they ran the ride in test mode or something.

Either way, both the parents and the ride staff should've checked to see if children were properly seated. If you watch just about anywhere, you'll notice ride staff will always pay attention to bigger guests and children.

Where did you read that? The article says the sensor said they weren't buckled in and they fiddled with it tell it went off.

That's how it was when I went earlier this year. The staff only checked if passengers were buckled, not if the empty seats had the belts buckled.
Not that the belts have enough mass to fly around a lot, but they are annoying.

The operators should get in trouble for fiddling with the sensor. You're not suppose to do that. This park should be shut down for negligence and pure stupidity
