Anyway, was the Hudson Bay Company/Rupert's Land covered at all in school history?

I have no recollection of it

but I hated Canadian History, least favourite subject as a kid and only a few things really stuck so I'm very far from the best person to ask

It was covered when I went to school. There were many chapters in our textbooks about the fur trade and the Hudson's Bay Company was very central to that.

oh, fur trade was definitely covered for me so yeah it definitely fell through the cracks

I just looked up Rupert's Land on Wikipedia since I remember learning about it within the fur trade chapters but I didn't really remember too much. That entire section on how the Bay essentially owned it was new to me though, I don't think they mentioned that, or if it they did, it wasn't a major focus in my curriculum.

Yes, I definitely learned about the Hudson's Bay Company.

Now, whether I retained very much of it, not so much.

Yes, especially here in Manitoba where they were central to the early history of the province.

Yes, 7th or 8th grade history was all about the early fur trade and wars with the natives

I vaguely recall the fur trade yeah, but as others have mentioned, it was covered before high school and so I have almost no recollection of it.
