Usually when I try to get people to make music with, all they wanna play is covers, thats not making music

You could argue it would be better if most bands were cover bands

good music that isnt yours > the world flooded with bad music or rip off music

if all they do is covers, then yeah I see your point. But j don't know any successful band that just do popular covers. Only company I know that does exclusive covers are Kidz Bop.

The Ventures are awesome. That is all. Maybe the bands youre listening to just arent very good, so when they try these edgy covers it doesnt really work out

From my experience musicians that want to start a cover band are one of two things. Either not confident in their songwriting skills, or older dudes that are kinda just being realistic in terms of their music "career" and just want to play shows for fun.

If I were you I'd make it clear that you want to write original music before asking anyone to jam.

So did The Rolling Stones, a cover here and there is fine, but a band that only plays covers with no original stuff, isnt really a band IMO

Years ago I found some girl on youtube who does lots of covers and her singing voice and the way she adapted the songs to her style was actually awesome.

Then in some video she mentioned she just turned 15 and I stopped watching her videos cause yeah... id thought she was at least 20. So that felt creepy

All they did was Pink Floyd stuff.

Not really a fan of cover bands myself, unless it's the only way to hear the songs live because the original band are gone, or will never get together again. Like Beatles, and Pink Floyd.

Doing covers can be a fun way to bring together new bands, but its always more fun to write your own material.
