I wouldn't write off these nuts completely here. There are many insane fanatics for one who would gladly kill liberals, minorities, and whoever they perceive as in their way. The police, the military, and other government organizations being full of right wing sympathizers is a legitimate problem. Plus they'd have pretty much unlimited funding from corporations who want a corporate loving fascist hellhole of America. You also have to factor in how weak and incompetent Democrats are so their response would most likely be bad or ill planned if shit starts really popping off.

Just saying it wouldn't be a total one sided slaughter like many think it would be.

Police maybe, but the insurrection proved that the military, from command down, is loyal to the country, as they refused in any capacity to assist Trump. I consider this more a matter of general luck based on tradition than anything else, but there is evidence that military would be in the minority of supporting an insurrection.

The police are not an assaulting and taking force, though, in terms of land. They occupy their own areas. The worst thing we have to look forward to from them is attempting to seize control of their own precincts. They are not soldiers, no matter how much they play-act as them.

I don't think those numbers are as great as you think. Yes major corporations are shit that exploit people, but they need those people alive and general stability to conduct their business. The only place where war is good for business is in the defense contractors. Expecting Apple or Amazon to support an insurrection is silly when they would be the first targets of seizure and nationalization in a fascist dictatorship.

You also have to factor in how weak and incompetent Democrats are

I do. Every time I go to the voting box, I factor that in. I wish more people would, especially around primary season.

Refer to Post #12. Police, yes, depending on the area have a very real chance of insurrection, but they're not a monolith. They're disparate to their own areas, and they're not soldiers, no matter how much they're draped and decked out with equipment.

I will not lie that I had reservations about the military, but thankfully, the outcome of this past year at least provided evidence that, as a unit, they're not in the business of insurrection.

These boomers are all so pathetic. I have no doubt that a good portion of would love to kill a bunch of "leftist liberal democrats". They've been listening to Limbaugh, Hannity, Jones and that ilk telling them that people who disagree with them politically aren't really Americans, that they are in fact cowards and traitors who want to destroy the "American way of life".

The problem that they don't grasp is that the majority of them are old and in ill health. They aren't going to go hide in the mountains, caves, or woods like a Taliban fighter or the VC. They aren't going to subsist on diets of what they can scavenge and shit in holes. They are far too in love with their easy modern life. Not to mention how are they going to get on without their meds? In short they can fuck around and find out if they really want to but I don't think it will go the way they would like. They aren't the only ones with guns.

have you seen the video where one of the people supposed to protect the place moved the barrier and gestured them to come in? And then some of his colleagues took selfies with the criminals breaking in?

then the national guard took forever to get there because they could not get authorization.

the VA and MD National guards offered to help and they told them to fuck off.

you may be right, but it isn't these people I am most concerned about. it's the trend. if we end up with a large faction of true zealots a la the Taliban, that's trouble. I doubt we will, but again, the trend is concerning.

the real threat, of course, is legislators stealing elections. then we have a much larger problem on our hands which is much more likely to happen in the near future.

We were just talking about this the other night. One of my co-workers had to humor a lady that's a heavy Q follower. The lady stockpiled on food and supplies because "a war is coming". Trump will be back in office (they still haven't let that one go) and there will be a reckoning for all the Democrats currently in power.

It's truly mindblowing how they still believe this stuff, despite how many times the "Trump will be back in office on X date" predictions have already been wrong.

A war would be bad for the left. The right has more guns and more training. I think some people on the left have the notion that it would be like monkeys holding guns and fleeing when they see the intellectually superior humans know how to shoot. The reality is that there are many on the right who are proficient with the use of firearms.

It's inconsequential in this case though. There will be no war. There might be a couple of right-wingers going to prison for murder in trying to start a war, but there's no way it can realistically happen. The government and military aren't going to fracture. Trump is a renegade. He's in it only for himself and would raise an army if he could. Everyone else realizes there's a delicate balance to be maintained.
