It's a bug in your house. Obviously.

There's some bugs you don't want to kill like house centipedes.

You should absolutely kill silverfish / earwigs / whatever the fuck that is

it eats starchy stuff, so it could damage books or other paper stuff, clothes, etc. harmless to you, just a hungry pest

This pretty much, but even then, a single one went really cause any real damage to anything. Only time you need to worry about papers getting eaten is if you have a ton of them around.

They're mostly scavengers who stay out of sight most of the time. Like DeathSong said, just ignore it or put it outside. It's literally harmless.

Why not centipedes? Not that I care, my cats take care of all bugs besides stink bugs anyway

Getting over how they look is tough. I have been able to though for the most part. I used to kill them, even knowing they are useful. Now I leave them alone... but they are expected to stay of sight and if spotted, get out of sight in a hurry.

I wanna hold one, they look cool. But i tend to be too afraid to hold moths and these big black beetles that sometimes wander in :/ the beetles look like theyve got some mean pinchys tho.

Moths are the best. I could be literally covered in large moths and I would be like "this is literally the best thing ever"

centipedes are... difficult to hold. go find some big chunky millipedes :D (and wash your hands after handling them)

I saw videos of someone handling a centipede pretty easily... but it actually more the other way around because it was a giant one and it was like the length of his arm lol. Some millipedes can get big like that too right? I remember seeing something about a giant millipede that is used by some marsupial for its venom because it gets them high lol

oh yeah i guess people handle the big scolopendromorphs in the pet trade. err, i wouldn't, if you happen to get 'bit' it's not ideal XD
all the ones i ever find are fast as heck

there are giant millipedes, i think all in the southern hemisphere. idk about marsupials getting a buzz, but i believe it. millipedes can't bite or sting, so their only offense is a good defense - crazy chemicals that ought to deter predators from eating them.

the beautifully-colored xystodesmids you can often encounter on trails in the southeast will leave your hands smelling pleasant if you handle them. kind of a sweet cherry/almond aroma. it's from the cyanide compounds in their secretions - yum!!

also they fluoresce under blacklight <3

Yeah it was secretion based. The marsupials (I think they were. I could be wrong and they could be some other type of animal that looks marsupial. Not sure) would mess with them and then rub them all over their fur. I think it was also to build tolerance or for their own protection. The buzz might have been just a side effect and not the point.
