My wife worked at two. The first one they weren't putting her name in on the purchase orders on cars she sold because "we call the accounting office to put her employee ID in after the fact" (which the supervisor to her boss confirmed was BS). The second one they were mishandling PII and constantly making racist jokes to each other and they asked her to shadow one of the people that had been there a while and that person gave her the cold shoulder so she quit.

There are probably good dealerships out there but there also way more shitty ones.

To be honest, 'sales' tends to draw shady, shitty people. Corporate simply wants to push numbers, so people who lack conscience tend to do well in those systems; at least at face value. If you're trying to work in a sales position without being part of that 'club' it's going to feel like the worst clique-ish parts of school all over again.

The added weight destroyed any hope of reasonable mpg.

Also yeah I've been in the biz for about a decade. It pays the bills and I don't hate it enough to actively look for something different t.

I mean I've been in floor sales for cars as well as a manager in service. Currently a manger in new/used sales. Tons of jobs in any given car dealership that aren't at all sales related though. What I can tell you regarding sales positions in either sales or service is that highs are high and lows are really, really low. The same could be said of any commission sales related job, generally.

Were you considering slinging cars, servicing cars, or something else?
