He could go to court, but the most they would charge him with is manslaughter, and even that is nebulous For it to be murder, he had to have had intent - loading the gun and intending to fire it at someone to kill them. For manslaughter, I think it's something like "the perpetrator used a degree of force that led to someone's death unintentionally", like being in a heated argument and bashing someone in the head with a skillet. You're not thinking straight and you want to hurt them, but you never meant to kill them. Or for another example - hitting someone with your car. If you hit them intentionally and they die, that's murder. If you hit them unintentionally, that's manslaughter. If someone walks out in front of you to kill themselves, or is otherwise in the wrong, there's a chance you don't get charged because you couldn't have predicted or prevented their death. That line gets blurred when you're driving under the influence, with people calling for DUIs to be considered murders, but plenty of DUIs get charged with a lesser charge of manslaughter. I think the worst Alec Baldwin could ever be charged with is a lower degree of manslaughter. The gun was loaded with blanks, meaning whatever he did was under the assumption nothing would go wrong. He had no idea the blank would discharge anything solid that was capable of causing harm, meaning there's no intent to murder - with the Twitter accusations trying to make that connection, as if he loaded a live round to shut someone up - and the reason the gun was pointed at anyone was because he was filming a movie and they were rehearsing. And even then, manslaughter is tenuous at best because it seems like the shooting was a result of negligence from a third party or a malfunctioning prop ala The Crow. The most likely explanation is that this was a tragic accident on the set of a film, of which there were multiple eye-witnesses and plenty of people monitoring the situation before, during and after the situations. There are people keeping an eye on Alec Baldwin, meaning we know his reaction during the shooting and after it happened, which likely speaks to his own innocence in the matter. As the situation progresses, the issue with the prop will likely be identified. Short of Alec Baldwin being revealed to have a motive (arguing with the director or cinematographer before the shooting took place), having a hand in picking the rounds they loaded into the gun or otherwise benefitting from this shooting? He's not going to be charged with manslaughter, and he's not going to jail. --- I'm gonna burn it all down today, and sweep all the ashes away Now Playing: Pokemon HeartGold, Minecraft, Oldschool Runescape ...
