another thing you could try is change hotbar selection from Hold to Toggle. that way you press R2/L2 once and your bar stays active till you press L2/R2 again. this lets you switch with R1/L1 without holding the 2 button down. (at least i think it works this way been a while since ive used it). the downside is that you cant use the double crossbar so switching bars is more fumbly but that isnt really a problem until 50+

to prevent accidentally switching bars, you can go go character config > hot bar settings > custom > enable customizing for when weapon is drawn and turn off everything

and it might help to try out a dps instead of a tank for awhile. that way you can get some practice target switching without having to worry about picking up enemies or messing up too badly

Targeting in PvP is ass on keyboard too though. They really need to fix that somehow if they want PvP to be viable in FF14.

Oh also I don't think colliding has checked out the Gold Saucer yet has he? Definitely should do that if not! It's fun!

I forget where it is but for my mouse and keyboard, there's an option so that tab targeting only targets enemies in a nearby cone in front of me, so it doens't select enemies very far away that aren't in the fight. I wonder if that's the problem? Does controller have a similar setting?

I walked around the Gold Saucer and enjoyed the music for a while, but I didn't do any of the minigames/lottery stuff. Should I? I played triple triad against a few computer opponents, but I've never been a fan of the FF card games, to be honest!

Thanks for that reddit link earlier and all the tips. Again, it's usually only when adds show up that this becomes an issue.

theres mounts/minions/assorted cosmetic stuff to be won at the Saucer. not a big deal if you dont want any of it but if you do may as well start winning that MGP sooner rather than later

also cant remember if its been mentioned already but unlock the Challenge Log if you havent! blue quest Rising to the Challenge in limsa. it gives you bonus exp and gil for doing some simple stuff you might be doing naturally anyway

IMO definitely check out the gold saucer minigames

There is a lot more to FF14 than just the combat after all. And if Triple Triad isn't your thing thats fine, you don't have to do that! I don't really care about TT myself either.
