I dont get it, who cares if they believe the earth is flat, I still have to go to work. The earth could be a pimple, it doesnt change anything.

I once talked to a flat earther who tried to use a map of the earth that was drawn ~150 years ago as proof that the earth was actually flat. He didn't understand that the lattitude/longitude lines drawn on the map were actually depicting curvature.

This. Hell, even experiments they themselves tried to run to prove a flat Earth, even when the test was changed to make it more likely to give them the result they wanted, it still proved that the Earth was round. What did they do? Completely disregard the test results.

The thought process and thought patterns behind it are unbelievably toxic and are spreading.

The idea that because most people agree on something that's demonstrably true, there must be a conspiracy by THEM hiding the REAL truth and brainwashing you/enforcing conformity/hiding or ignoring evidence is fucking demolishing our society as we speak.

There's also a lot of overlap between flat earth and all types of bigoted conspiracy theories, especially anti-semitism because there has to be a group or groups hiding the truth and benefitting from doing so.

It's honestly weird how upset people get about such an innocuous belief, I agree

Flat earthers aren't necessarily even stupid, you can make a case for flat earth, it's just incredibly ad hoc and contrived and superfluous. I see a belief in flat earth as being more about personality and less about intelligence.

They are undermining the way our world functions through a disinformation campaign disguised as enlightened thinking. Flat earthers are not just flat earthers, they are also vegans and christ deniers...quite literally the epitome of weak thinkers. Wait until you argue with them about how gravity doesn't exist, the Earth isn't actually flat but the part we live on doesn't have a curvature to it like a hill, but somehow at the peak of this "hill" the ocean isn't flowing downward pooling around the ice wall and the dome.
