Shin Megami Tensei 5 is only on the switch

I've never played either series, although I loved Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal even more.

I'm thinking of getting one three.

Which does CE recommend?

DD is completely different from SMT.

Are you looking for an Action RPG or a Turn Based RPG?

I personally prefer Dragon's Dogma but it's not everyone's cup of tea, especially if you want a narrative. The focus is heavily on the fun gameplay.

I'm thinking SMTV is going to be GOTY and many people who have played it are saying it's pretty much a GOAT contender for the series. Get that, it'll be modernized, SMT3 is fantastic but there's a lot of BS, Dragon's Dogma is a game you can get for $5 on sale. You'll be in with a fresh and engaged community.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen can probably be had pretty cheap right about now. You might like its gameplay loop. SMT 5 borrows a lot from Nocturne, and it's the most relevant game you listed.

I can only speak for Dragon's Dogma but I'd definitely recommend it. As mentioned, if you're looking for a good narrative and character development you won't find it but it's really fun to play. There's great variety among the different classes, the pawn system is cool (and the character creator is pretty decent if you're into that), and the game handles post-game/ng+ really well (some exclusive content & quality of life improvements).

It's also probably the best online community I've ever been apart of, there's always someone around who's willing to hire your pawn (which provides you with a form of currency) and/or send you a specific item you might need.

Pick the game where you can summon giant tornadoes to juggle goblins into oblivion and shot magical arrows that bounce off everything.

A lot of people said that the elders ring trailer today reminded them of Dragon's Dogma

Is this true? If so I have a clear winner.

SMT is mostly on the opposite end of the spectrum when compared to Persona.

Despite both being turn based games, both are practically opposites of each other.

One is a character/story driven game with sim elements and the other is a barren apocalyptic wasteland-like environment with little and mostly obscucated plot.

Anyways I recommend Dragons Dogma.

Alright I'm only a few minutes in, but yeah this looks a lot like DD:DA.

Obviously there's different approaches to combat, Elden Ring is more souls like and methodical with even a bit of stealth in that first battle for the carriage, while DD:DA favours aggression and stuff like mounting enemies to stab at weak spots or using your pawns to support you, etc. I don't think there's any real stealth in DD:DA aside from just not getting in aggro range of stronger enemies you can't fight yet.

The crafting looked a lot like DD:DA too! Very simple but still has a lot of experimentation.

The vibes are different too. Elden Ring and what I've played of Souls games look pretty post-apocalyptic in a way, while DD:DA is alot more basic fantasy with little habited outposts and towns scattered in places.

This whole thing just looks like Dragon's Dogma with Souls elements tbh.
