I was playing as Diddy for the longest time until reading in Nintendo Power that Pipsy was pretty good. I gave her a shot, and she was way better than expected.

Also ended up reading in NP that you could stop holding down the "A" button and accelerating when going through boosts because that will make you go faster. It sounded like nonsense, but I tried it out, and it worked. They actually programmed it that holding down acceleration doesn't give you a full speed boost compared to letting go.

He's the final boss. As well as the boss of the hidden space world.

He's the entire reason Diddy Kong is on the island to begin with.

I faced him for the first time in 1998.
I defeated him for the first time in 2021.

That was my New Year's Resolution and I was not long in keeping it. When I look back at the decades that went by without having beaten him, I feel the pain all over again. Time and again, I'd beat a game that had kicked my butt only to remind myself that Wizpig was still out there unbeaten.

And after twenty years, the game had one last kick to the testicles left in it. The game ends on a screen which reads To Be Continued... The final image is of Wizpig laughing at you from his ship because he hasn't been driven from the island after all.

Whatever. I still won.

It's actually kind of inconsistent. If you angle your car right and gain enough momentum, you can actually miss one of the boosts altogether and beat him. I've even fallen in the water and still won.

This was overshooting one of the ramps toward the end of the track and falling in the water to which I could hit the A button and recapture my momentum and easily climb back out again. If you fall off the log bridge into the water, you're far past gone.

I agree that he's harder in the first race. That legitimately took me an hour to beat. I have no idea what made them make it so difficult. The game was already long enough that no kid was going to beat it as a rental. The Silver Coin challenge saw to that.

I tested this a year back. For the original 8 characters it can't be done. He's too fast and the boosts aren't strong enough to get you across the water where you'll lose lots of time.

I did manage to beat him with Drumstick, it was extremely difficult and barely possible. It was relatively easy with TT.

So for a first time player it's obviously impossible to have TT unlocked, but you could have drumstick. So it could be done, but I doubt many people, if any did it that way. I did it with pipsy and it took me quite a few hours over a few hundred attempts. The second one was far more frustrating because I'd always hit something dead-on which wastes a huge amount of time with the plane.

Never even made it to him.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is without using the A-tapping glitch. It would be easy to win with any character using that, because it's cheating as it was not intended by the devs.

I thought you needed to use A-tapping to beat the dev time for Windmill Plains, though I can't tell if this person's using A-tapping or not, doesn't really seem like it, so maybe it wasn't necessary:

Wizpig's first race was way harder than the final boss race. For some reason.

I HAD to use Tiptup to bet him he was that hard.

I used Banjo for the entire game. I have no idea if he's actually a good choice. I just liked his "Im Banjo! Hyuk!" on the character selection screen.

Yeah, releasing the gas going over a zipper lets out this smoke so you know you got the full boost. Ive only beaten wispig with diddy and im convinced hes the most balanced out of everyone. All the characters have diff weights that affect how they drive. Tiptup/pipsy are the lightest, so they have best acceleration, but not the best top speed. Banjo/krunch are the heaviest, with the worst handling, but have the highest speed. Everyone else is about in the middle. Also, holding r while flying lets you fly faster, makes space wispig a lot easier then the first. Even in adventure two.

Idk if this will ever be on nso, but id get it in a heartbeat just to wreck people lol
