Fucking around with my island has become very addicting, and that doesn't even include the DLC (which is also fun).

Harv's Island, the boat adventures, and the storage shed are probably the big reasons why. So much has become more accessible, whereas previously getting materials out and storing stuff was so inconvenient and annoying that I didn't want to bother with crafting or even buying new stuff. Some of the new islands in the adventures (like the wishing star island and islands with coooking recipes and seasonal recipes), vines, and gyroids make going on expeditions actually worthwhile. And it is way less annoying to stop by the boat to go rather than printing a ticket and talking to the fucking bird at the airport for 30 minutes. Cooking has also simplified villager gifts and added a nice little loop: plant a farm, harvest crops, cook with ingredients, give food to villagers. Fun, convenient, and a lot closer to neighborly food exchanges.

Down the line I'm probably going to start home traveling to hit event days and finish the museum. But right now I'm just playing daily as normal and having a lot more fun than expected. As I mentioned, I'm now engaging in lots of systems that were simply too much of a pain in the ass for me before.

Yeah, I jumped back in too. I had no intention of ever going back, but the additions they added are ludicrous

i started playing again just before the update so it doesn't really feel refreshed, just, like more. it really makes my daily upkeep routine a lot longer, but i still wish there was a little.......more.

It's pretty fun. There are these big items that are sometimes in Nook's special items like cars and stuff. Got myself a bulldozer the other day.

I can understand that. Keep in mind that my island was pretty barren because I found the whole process to be too annoying. So I've basically just begun customizing my island in a meaningful way thanks to the changes.

I moved all of my villagers around before the update and then I found out that the update made it significantly cheaper to move villagers around.

I'm not mad at all

Furniture customization is a game changer for me. No longer am I stuck with ugly green or blue streetlights or lanterns or yellow phone boxes.

I've been taking good advantage of the reduced prices. I never moved any buildings before tbh, but I've moved like half of them in the last week lol.

Oh yeah, for sure. Annoying that you have to go to Harv's for that, but luckily Tortimer+an ABD are both there.

I make a conscious decision to stop playing Animal Crossing after wasting far too much time with Wild World and New Leaf

Has the new update made it more fun for someone that found just decorating shit to be boring? As far as I could tell that's all you did

I don't think so. The update mostly made the systems that were already there work better. And the DLC is specifically about decorating homes.

Damn. I want to like AC so bad but I just can't. I'm not visually creative so so much of the game is lost on me. Thanks for the answer though

Yeah Im back on my daily playing schedule. Left my island half finished so I can still terraform/decorate + all the extra stuff they added.

Those new items are fucking amaze, and if I had no priorities and more money I'd get the dlc
