That's one of the great things about Dark Souls. It has a built in easy mode. People just get confused because they didn't put it into a menu.

Meanwhile I like to get as many buffs as possible and 1 shot bosses with sorcery

Other people like to play NG+7 naked and fists only

It's amazing how many different ways you can play it and have fun with it tbh.

I never understood the drake sword hate. Yeah I get its not a good end game weapon but its a damn good early game weapon

I guess because it kinda makes it so you steamroll all of the early game areas which are meant to be tutorials of sorts to the point you don't really have to git gud at dodging and stamina management for blocking so by the time it stops being effective you end up cucking yourself. Hence, it's a ''noob trap'' weapon.

Approach and back off constantly, when you get near enough he's forced to initiate an attack. If you're still kinda close he'll go for a follow up. If he does the slow swing there's no follow up. If he does the shield bash he'll follow up with the forward thrust. If he does the faster overhead swing he'll go for a second attack at about the same speed. Your plan is to recognise the first attack, walk in and parry the second one.

Alternatively you could get behind him once, backstab him and then stand behind him while he's getting up. When he finishes his getting up animation and is back in his standing animation but hasn't turned yet, press attack to backstab him. Spam it until he's done. Some small daggers have crit damage multipliers which speed it way up.

Stuff like this works on most of the humanoid/human-size enemies.
Edit: Sword drop is chance based, having 10 stacked humanities ups the chance a little but aside from that gotta cross fingers.

The thing about the Drake Sword is that it's an easy mode until it stops being one, and then people using it as a crutch don't know what to do.
