I think it's a given that censuring him was the appropriate response. As Ted's tweet said, if anyone in literally any other job shared a video depicting them killing their coworkers, they'd be fired on the spot, if not outright arrested. Congress should be no different.

Like not only would anyone get fired for this at any place of employment in the country, but the dude is literally a politician in a party where his constituents think that despite having rigged the system in their favor through gerrymandering it isn't enough mass murder of "leftists" is appropriate.

Censure wasn't enough. It's essentially just a formal "shame on you". If you did something like that at anybother job you'd be fired, without hesitation. Do it at school and you'd be expelled. Police would almost certainly be involved in both situations.

He should have been made an example of. These politicians need to be corrected in their trashy behavior. They need to be forced to hold themselves to higher standards while holding public office. At least their public and professional behavior. I am embarrassed by our politicians and have been for some time now. Getting the trash that thinks this sort of thing is acceptable out of congress would be a step in the right direction to making America a better place. Our "leaders" need to stop acting like children.

The problem is that it is very difficult to remove an elected official from office. In the history of the US only 20 members have been expelled from Congress and 17 of those were for supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War.

So elected officials should have complete freedom to threaten the lives of their coworkers, purely for the sake of protecting democracy? There should be no mechanisms in place to fire them in circumstances that show that they are a credible threat to others present?

Because that makes sense.
