$200,000, but you have to quit your job RIGHT NOW!

If you are not employed atm, you can take the deal if you swear off work for the next four years!

If you quit your job for the money, you may not work again until four years has passed.

Erm the four years part is the bigger question than anything else.

I literally just started a new job and have no qualms leaving it.

But I'm not sure I want to be unemployed for 4 years. Even with 200,000

I'm assuming it's after tax? Even so.

I think I would take it but it's a serious question. $50,000 a year really isn't that much. It's less than what I am currently earning.

If I did this, I would invest about 5-10% in XRP, Algorand, Litecoin, Dash or something like that, or a combination. Something especially that I'm able to stake safely and get compound interest.

I'd pay off my rent until the lease end.

I'd apply for unemployment, food stamps and government assistance in the mean time since I'm technically out of work and have no income.

With the remaining $160,000. I'd reserve $80,000 for last resort emergency savings I should be able to stretch that for about a year.

The remaining $80,000 I'd use to try to find some way to go into business for myself whether it even be something like real estate Fix and Flip, Air BnBs, CryptoMining or something.

This is if I took the deal. I'd also not tell anyone that I had this money in savings

That's a massive pay cut for me but 4 years of just being able to pursue hobbies sounds like it might be worth it.

i make way more than that in just 2 years, but the after tax part can make it tempting. work likes me so i can just apply back again after 4 years.

oddly enough, the real difference is whether i would qualify for medicare. i'm technically quitting, but if i have to pay for my own health insurance that takes it down from about 4k to only 3k in your pocket monthly. 4k i can barely do, 3k is less than mortgage+HOA+expenses

if i did it, i would take the money, which is barely enough to keep me at maintenance and use my current savings to travel. then apply back to my same job after 4 years and they'll def take me. all i'd lose out on is some savings and retirement

it would be. ok so you might not make as much money, but your time is honestly the most valuable thing you have. While you are young you would have 4 years of time to do whatever you want when you want.

That's worth a lower salary.

would be nice to pay off my house but i'm shooting for a 20 year retirement from the military in a few years, so no. the amount of benefits i'd lose isn't worth it.

edit: didn't read the post text. but still no. taking a 4 year break and then finishing it out afterwards...no.

Essentially that's what I'm thinking. Like I'll probably be making less money when I'm retired anyway so it's better to have a little taste of retirement before I'm too old to really enjoy it.

I can always make more money I can't necessarily get back the time.
