Non-sarcastically, people like @AssultTank and @DarkRoast really show how much the right has moved. (Sorry to throw tags, guys.) And they have moved enormously between 2008-2016 and again from 2016-now. Just looking at the platform shows how transparently they've shifted to a populist race baiting adversarial party. The only major legislation they've presented in the last 12 years has been their effort to repeal the ACA, and how has that gone in regards to popular opinion.

And it's not like old school Democrats stopped existing. Joe fucking Biden is President! Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House! The Democratic party of 2008 still exists, but they've accepted gay rights and a few concessions on healthcare and marijuana to mass popular appeal. Those politicians core values haven't massively changed.

Nah, you're good. But honestly, both sides have been shifting more towards extremes. The left less so, but the extremists on the left are extremely hateful and can get very aggressive when called out.

But the right pretty much turned the steering wheel all the way right and slammed on the gas...

At least in 2008 we were free to have conversations. I remember those days well.

Now YOU can say much more than I can. You can s*** on anything right-wing you don't agree with without any fear of repercussions. I have to tread extremely carefully because anything I say could be moderated by any disgruntled wokey moderator.

And would you look at that. The GameFAQs of CJayC's time is long, long gone. When we would have heated but fun discussions, even when we heavily disagreed. Now it's all hate, hate, hate, divide, divide, divide, insults, insults and insults. Every time I come and click on topics I see people being called names, political opponents described with ridiculous hyperboles, topics making fun of and bashing real life people, and constant bickering. Yes, that has always existed, but not to this extent. GameFAQs is like the Twitter of video games. A toxic place for video game nerds.

Yeah, bring back 2008 GameFAQs any day, when freedom still existed on this site. /private website freedom is not blah blah blahhhhhhhhh
