Aside from maybe some content old people, I truly believe anyone who says no is full of shit.
As in they're wrong or they're lying?

Are you sure you're not conflating & confabulating? Some people are trained to the bone to embrace death. All of it.

That's both ignorant and a little arrogant. Just because you can't get over it doesn't mean nobody can.

If i had a wife, kids, enjoyable career etc I probably would.

I have none of those and i'm almost hitting 40 so if i went, i'm okay with it since i wouldn't leave much of anything behind. But i'm not wishing for it to happen.

Eh I'm somewhere in between. I don't want to die young because I want to see what promise the future holds and be there to help care for my loved ones as long as I can, but I also know death is a part of life that cannot be avoided and we can't keep anything anyway, no matter how hard society, governments, corporations try to delude us to be a cog in the economic machine to amass capital and purchase material goods to act as our "worth". Death can be ugly and scary, but in a way it is also a incredible, necessary process that proves we are all equal in the end.

Easy to say you feel unworried about the prospect when you're comfortably distant from it. That's not courage, just complacency. Come back and update us on your opinion after you've been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or you've moved into a high-risk group.

*Snore*

Wake me up in 100 years.

Also, I just had this discussion. If the wild animal wants to be petted, in all honesty, you'd better do it. Might seem like a strange concept to, but as long as you stand your ground and don't infringe, many wild animals will try to shake your pockets for food or kindness and then run away. Simple as that.

If you walk INTO wolves' nest, it's a different story. Sort of.

Fear it? No. I'd prefer to die an old man. I want to see my kids grow up and become parents (if they choose) and be there for them as long as possible.

I think death is the end, though. No heaven or hell. Just nothingness as it was before I was born.

Oddly, though, if I had my choice I'd want to know when. Be that from a bad medical diagnosis or whatever. Kind of tell everyone goodbye and try to say my piece. I think it would suck to die in a wreck or something.

I'm a firm believer that those who say they do not fear dying lack imagination or experience...or both.

Seen too many brave people who did not fear the death they saw coming die traumatized by the one they actually got to not fear dying.

Fear is such a strong word.

If you wanna go that route, I'll tell you... I'm "afraid" of everything.

Is there a word for people like that? ;) Or, is xenophobia a natural reaction to anything.

I remember stumbling across the concept of nothingness and balking. 20 years ago?

I've only ever been afraid of loved ones dying. Myself, I couldn't give a rat's ass about. So, it's difficult for me to answer the poll without you being more specific about whose death I'd be afraid of.

I've been through suicidal ideation before; nothing new to me.

I don't fear being dead conceptually. I am afraid of most of the ways you get to that state though, and I'm extremely risk-averse and pain averse.

Not really.

I mean, there's no afterlife or reiincarnation or whatever.

We just die and that's it. Nothing to fear about it. Of course, I have things I still want to get done so I'm not in a hurry to die, but living in fear of it is not really living.

I am incredibly terrified of death, and yet I do little to maximize my lifespan.

I'm sure it would be more comforting to believe in an afterlife, but I can't have faith just because it makes things easier.

I feel like fearing death is honestly natural for all human, but it's also the factor that drive people to accomplish something while they are still alive, at least.

And it's not even about afterlife and all that bullshit if I may, but surely you would worry about your loved ones if you die before them, whether it's your parents, wife/husband, children, close friends, or even your pets etc.
