sword and shield is "better" than brilliant diamond, but not by much. The dlc is better than the entire base game.

If you want an extremely easy, slightly different take on red/blue, get one of the lets go games. You can play it local coop too.

They're Pokemon games.

I'm serious. I don't remember struggling too badly on the ones I played.

I think I only had a problem with the first ice type you encounter in Pearl/Diamond since I didn't have a strong counter at the time. Just needed to train a little bit.

Didn't have time to get it set up but I'm almost completely done.

Entering passwords is annoying. It wouldn't let accept my Nintendo Account password no matter how many times I tried or entered it using touch screen or joycons. Had to use my phone to scan it.

Should I get Odyssey? Also which Zelda should I start with if I'm not getting Breath of the Wild?

I think it's just Skyward Sword HD and the Link's Awakening remake.

Maybe I'll do 3 games instead. Probably a Pokemon game to go with Odyssey and whichever Zelda. I don't know anything about Skyward Sword.

Odyssey is a fantastic time. Skyward Sword vs Link's Awakening is a tricky comparison because you're comparing a 3D Zelda to a 2D one, and that generally makes for fairly different experiences.

I don't know anything about Skyward Sword.

It's probably one of the most hit-or-miss games in the series. A lot of people really hated it, others really liked it. Part of that is the motion controls, which just didn't work for a lot of people (I've seen the theory that some of the WMP's that were bundled with the game when it launched were defective, but I haven't seen that confirmed), but beyond that, people panned the lack of a proper overworld, the rather annoying unskippable tutorials (dunno if that's been fixed in the remake), the fact that regions get revisited instead of, and a few other bothersome quirks. On the other hand, though, it's got some of the more interesting dungeons, puzzles, and bosses in the series, the upgrade system for items is pretty nifty, and the story is one of the better ones in the series. I liked it, but your mileage may vary.

I played the hell out of the original Link's Awakening so maybe I'll get if if it ever goes on a 10% off sale or something. For Odyssey I have the cereal box still. Been waiting to get a Switch for that long.

I got Odyssey, Sword, and Skyward Sword. They didn't have much there. I should have gotten Age of Calamity too. They were sold out of All Stars so I'll have to wait on that too.
