I'm both younger and older. I'm a middle child. It was mostly me and my older brother that were into gaming though. I'm kinda odd though in that I am an abnormal age to be watching streamers. Most streamers and most people who watch them are 30 or younger. I am 40. I've been into streaming for almost 10 years though. But I am pretty sure most people my age don't pay attention to that stuff. But most people my age have a real life outside the internet

Watching streamers is comparable to watching people play sports (professional or otherwise), but it's something older generations don't get.

I just like hearing commentary on games I like. It essentially makes up for me having no family or friends I can really talk about gaming with.

For me, it's rarely about the actual game itself. If I like the streamer, I can watch them play anything. It's about their personality. Sometimes it's more than one person. Like with game grumps or oney plays. In those cases it's because of the conversations they have while they are playing

I was the yougnest of two sisters. My sisters didn't play videogames.

Watching someone play something isn't the primary interest of streams, it's the streamer's personality. Look at Jerma for example, he basically just uses his streams to do comedy routines.

By and large I just have it on as background noise during the day.

That being said, I like to see how people play the games that I enjoy. Its always interesting to me the different decisions that they make vs what I make. Also I like to see how people react to certain scenes in different games when they are playing it for the first time. Also I just think that the strategies and shortcuts that people use while speed running are fascinating in general.
