Really blurs the line between tablet and PC... why do people even bother with iPads?

Bought the one with i7 and 16gb of RAM, with the pen and keyboard combo. And then bought a screen protector and a dbrands skin for the back.

Was just browsing BestBuy a few days ago because I want something thats a decent laptop but doubles as a great drawing pad. Ended up eyeing the Surfaces. Any standout pros or cons?

Surfaces are great they just have terrible battery life but that is the trade off you get for having a powerful tablet.

At the end of a day its still got all the guts of a laptop in it and is far heavier than a tablet. I got nothing against them but they dont replace laptops or tablets except in scenarios where weight or performance doesnt matter which is typically just work

I really like the form factor of the Surface Go 3, but I could not justify spending that much money on such a poorly equipped device:
  • It comes with a Pentium Gold 6500Y (passmark of 3,200) and a ridiculous 4gb RAM for $399. If you want to upgrade to 8gb of RAM, it'll cost $549! wtf was Microsoft thinking?!
  • The Go 3 also offers i3 10100Y (passmark of 3,300) but at a staggering price of $629. And that extra +100 passmark score is not worth the price premium of an i3 vs Gold.
Go 3 is woefully under equipped for something running full Windows.

So the next best up is the Surface Pro 8:
  • i5 1135G7 (passmark score of 10,200) and 8gb of RAM for $1,099, or
  • i7 1185G7 (passmark score of 11,000) and 16gb of RAM for $1,449.
While I personally thought the Surface Pro 8 felt a little too large (compared to the Go 3), I ended up purchasing it because the internals essentially make it a fully functional computer that can last a few years, and the tablet is much lighter than I thought it would be (under 2lbs; similar as an iPad Pro), making it not that big of a deal to hold.

As for how it is, it's a great little device that is extremely well put together. You're going to like it if you want full blown windows on the go. If you want more tablet experience (iPad or Android or Chromebook even), you're going to hate it.

Yea I noticed battery draining pretty quickly when I'm just doing normal tablet-y stuff on it, like browsing the internet and watching YouTube. No freaking way this lasts 16 hours as advertised lol.

I haven't yet figured out if going to sleep mode is like a computer going to sleep mode (so like it's "off") or is it like a tablet/phone going to sleep mode (so like just screen off, still everything on). I think it's the former (it's like "off").

I actually wanted a fully functional tablet. Go 3 was going to be my first choice, but couldn't justify it at all (see post #6). If they had an i5 version, I would've jumped all over it.
