There are a few differences, like the shape of the hour hand and the added date counter on the WalMart one. But I don't see a reason to ever buy a 5k watch when I could get a $50 that looks almost identical.

the reason people wear these isn't because of how they look, it's because they cost $5k.

lol, watches are a hobby. i enjoy the automatic movements. this is the only watch of it's kind with this exterior style, interior mechanism and in this size (ie fits my wrists)

i don't doubt any of that, but there's a reason you're going after $5,000 watches and not the $50 ones. the high cost / luxury status is a major selling point of these, as well as ANY "luxury" item.

you get improved quality with the price increase.

to a certain extent, sure. but a LOT of what you're paying for is the branding and status that go along with that.

it's the same as those $200 Armani Exchange t-shirts. yeah, sure, those are made with higher quality materials and manufacturing vs a $2 Walmart t-shirt, but you're definitely not paying $198 more purely for that quality. it's more like $20 for the quality and $180 for the branding splashed on the front which lets strangers know you spent $200

the point was that while these luxury brands do offer superior quality in many cases, A LOT of the price point is due to branding and marketing, not just the quality increase.

Why do you need to know the time within 2 seconds a day? What does that even mean?
And if keeping track of the time to perfection is what you need wouldn't a smart watch or digital watch be better at that anyway?

Also it only keeps track of time perfectly if you set it perfectly, which seems impossible.
