Having just replayed it, I can say it holds up really well. It's biggest flaw is that it drowns you in rupees and gives you nothing meaningful to spend them on.

I think it surreptitiously gives you so much in order to fuel the Magic Armor and pay for the three rupee-related steps you have to complete in order to get it.

But, if you have 0 intention of getting the Magic Armor, then yeah, you're going to be pointlessly drowning in them.

Link's Awakening '19 is even worse.
You're starved for rupees until you finally buy the damn bow, then you're drowned in them until the postgame when dungeon tiles are 1280 each.

It's pretty good. A lot of the items are pretty useless and the world is too big for the amount of content it has but overall I liked it a fair bit

If not for that one boss battle the spinner would be a contender for worst item in the series.

Disagree. It's extremely situational, but I actually really liked all the rail-based platforming puzzles. TP had a lot of really fun gimmicks that just weren't utilized enough. Honestly, I also wish the iron boots got a permanent magnet upgrade. Loved those parts of the fire dungeon, too. >_>
