What is LUE?

i never thought i'd see the day when this was asked on gamefaqs.

LUE (board 402) is a social board where moderation was a little relaxed, and basically "anything goes" as far as discussion. it spawned a metric ****ton of memes in the early 00s, and had some outrageous shenanigans in its time, but got so wild that cjayc basically closed it off from new users (or old users who didn't sign up for continued access) - forever.

their mascot (and by extension gamefaqs's mascot) is LUEshi. it became so popular that it users used to get insta-banned for posting it.

https://i.imgur.com/b7eJotv.jpg

there was a time when LUE was the soul of the internet, and it's arguably the most notorious board in gamefaqs history.

They sure can.

His certification very clearly states he is not a genius in the category that would result in the decision making and Deductive judgement calls for that.

They can be very easily bamboozled with appeals to emotion or base desires, tending to be very loyal to whatever they first commit to and then using their considerable analytical skills to make, abandon, and remake scenarios as convenient in support of whatever they first committed to, in response to anything put in front of them.

Oh god, you perfectly described joe.

It was closed after an incident involving a girl committing suicide & the parents posted a memorial to her livejournal and assholes from LUE flooded the livejournal to troll the parents. This was the beginning of the extreme bans related to board invasions as well.

Anyway the lowlifes who were banned for this went on to form the core of the /b/ community on 4chan.

But some people in that group were so fucking awful that even /b/ threw them out. They ended up going to that other chan which shall not be named.

Kind of chill. Most of us decided to grow up, and those who refuse to are known and we tend to don't them. Most topics these days are about stuff that people in their mid-30s tend to discuss anyway, with some light shitposting thrown in.

LUE also tends to take a more negative view of things like racism, sexism, antivaxxers, and other assorted bigots and dumbasses than the rest of GameFAQs does, again as a result of its user base growing up and not trying to out-edgy each other. Those who still try this shit just get don'ted.

I mean, plenty of geniuses have been known for doing or believing utterly dumb shit. Issac Newton literally lost millions of dollars(in present day money) in the stock market because he got all emotionally excited about a company, Tesla thought eugenics would be the future, Nobel prize winning chemist Linus Pauling thought vitamin C would cure terminal cancer, and the list goes on and on. Joe believes in horse medicine for humans, not the dumbest thing a genius ever thought off.

For the record, I do not believe in "horse medicine for humans", that is a lie that some bad faith posters have repeated here. The truth is many intelligent people and institutions saw potential benefits in ivermectin, and so I was supportive of things like Oxford's research into its potential benefit. I believe any reasonably pragmatic person would be encouraging of investigation towards anything that can aid in fighting covid.

It is not a "horse drug" any more than aspirin is. Many effective drugs for humans can also be given to animals, but it is a bad faith tactic to act like that somehow makes them invalid.

I almost never respond to this kind of criticism because the people making it generally are bad faith actors not looking to engage with the truth, however I believe you should be a sincere person, so I infer that your response here is due to confusion and not an attempt to suggest bad faith criticism.

I do not want to get into this deeply in this topic, but I thought I would clear it up for you because I like and respect you and your opinion.

that's actually pretty cool joe. i think it's great that you've found a way to see positivity within yourself. but, you know, don't use this as a reason to prop yourself on too high of a horse.

like mentioned before, genius is pointless without actually using it for something, hopefully for good. and don't forget, the most difficult things to understand and live alongside with in this world are other humans. no matter how smart someone is, we will always need others, to work alongside others, to be with others.

i think it's great that you're getting a better understanding of yourself though. always a good thing.

Youre trying to change the narrative.

You do realize for them to research ivermectin against COVID that they have to, you know, give ivermectin to people. And after being constantly showed your just asking questions was wrong and your analysis of data was completely wrong, told to you by actual professionals, and then you doubled and tripled down on it, after being warned and suspended.

Stop trying to lie and make yourself into this innocent victim when youre not.

yea I know, the internet is well known for strawmanning someones beliefs and positions to make them look foolish disingenuously if the target is perceived as dislikable and has an annoying personality. They see you get annoyed by their responses so they do it even harder, its basically just a schoolyard playground. Some people loves knocking others down at feeling good about themselves if they dont like the person, it is what it is. I dont personally see the need for that but if they feel better about themselves doing that than more power to them, its your responsibility to not be triggered or annoyed by being continuously being berated by those kinds of people, especially if you choose to continue to engage with people of such caliber.

To be fair, just because those people get enjoyment out of knocking down others from feeling good about themselves, especially if they happen to dislike the target, doesnt necessarily mean theyre insecure, it could just mean thats what they do to feel good or get enjoyment. And besides, everyone has some degree of insecurity anyway, we wouldnt be human if we didnt, having insecurities doesnt mean someone is inferior or worthless in anyway.
