Did Christian bale's character win in the end or not? Why does he look so glum?

Margin Call was better, imo, although it has Kevin Spacey in it so its a bit tainted in light of all the nasty stuff that came out about him.

Yeah I watched margin call years and years ago and it was amazing.

But seeing as how they both talk about the same financial crisis, how are they related? What was margin call about compared to the big short?

He won in the sense that he correctly called a significant bet against the housing market at that time, and made himself and his clients very rich.

He looked so glum because he knew that while he made a shitton of money, millions of everyday folks were going to be absolutely crushed by the housing and stock market crash.

Fun Fact: The man who Bale is playing, Michael Burry, also bet on GameStop stock taking off at least a year before it did. Bottom line - it usually never hurts to follow what Burry is doing and play some money along with him even if what hes saying might seem crazy or absurd.

How about Steve Carrell's character. He was really good in this too. Was his character one of the good guys or bad guys. Did he also make money but is sad about it?

You thought it was boring? It was pretty entertaining throughout. The opposite of a slog to get through. I think you may be just really dumb. @Smackems

in the context of the movie i'm sure he looked glum because he had to fight everybody off since he was adamant about keeping the shorts while the investors kept bleeding money because of it until the end.

In the movie he was in the same boat as Christian Bale, he basically bet a ton of money on the mortgage market taking a shit. The longer he held, the more money he made and the more he hurt the banks. Once he got word that the banks were probably gonna get a bail out from the government (which would wipe out his gains), he had a mental crisis about selling his massive gains which were based off so many people losing money, and how he wasnt actually better than the banks. But then he cashed out.

In real life, Im sure he had no such second guessing when he sold

I think people can still feel bad about what they do while simultaneously doing it.

Reading up on the subject, and kind of insane there wasn't open revolt about it
