Also, Ive got a fucking gundam rabbit on my team and I'm still running into baby lego monsters. What the fuck is with the progression in this game. <_<

There are SD versions of some Digimon.
Great game, story becomes convoluted though. At least it aims high unlike Pokemon.

I did notice that a lot of dialog feels "filler-y". And not in the "Persona filler" way where you at least get funny character moments. But in "Golden Sun: Dark Dawn filler" way where the conversation ended three paragraphs ago but they still keep talking about the same thing over and over again. >_>

The beginning of the game is a legit chore.

Another thing is the experience curve just feels so wacky. Like, if I dont grind at all, I feel underpowered. But by the time the exp curve flattens out, the game is a joke.

An early game mission had me gaining almost a whole level per battle. I went from three low level champions to three mid-level ultimates in less than an hour. >_>

I do like enough of the story and game that Im not going to drop it. It just feels like, every five minutes I run into some small snag that makes me go "ugh".

Like Sistermon has an evolution that needs 50 ABI. You get like 3 ABI points every time you digivolve or de-digivolve. Tedious as fuck but I grinded it out in like 20 minutes. Now she's sitting on a farm training so when she hits level 60 her stats will be trained enough to meet the other requirements lol

Yeah that's always been the weird digimon thing. They level cap you by making you de-digivolve to get more of that ABI thing and digivolve again. Definitely a turn off, especially to peeps more inclined towards pokemon.

The translation is so bad and that's my biggest peeve. Also just wait later in the game to worry about digivolving otherwise you'll spend way too much time early game.

In terms of progression, it sort of feels like if Final Fantasy 7 gave you access to any materia in the game once you reach Shinra Tower. Then you get to Temple of the Ancients and the enemies don't feel any stronger than they were during the bombing mission. <_<

Or better yet, it sort of feels like if the FF8 card grinding shenanigans were the primary game mechanics, rather than some side thing that only incredibly depressed, lonely people touch because they don't have anything else to do in their lives. >_>

If you havent got 3 PlatNumemon with EXP Drives in every slot youre doing it wrong. But then everytime I do that I lose interest in the game as I have a team of Megadraw after about 3 minutes of grinding.

Also ABI should be maxed after a dedigivolve from Mega back to Baby and back. It gives way more than 3 if you get to mega first

I likes Cyber Sleuth but loved Next Order. I just wish the start wasnt so grueling

Digimon World 1 remains my favorite Digimon game. Really want to get around to Next Order, but I haven't had my PS4 in ages.

The "expand a V-Pet into a whole RPG" thing is really unique, kinda surprised no indie studios have aped it to make a "spiritual successor" yet <_<

The biggest annoyance i have with the game is that while the main story is perfectly fine grammar wise, the side content and some fluff text is complete gibberish, like the translators didn't give a single shit about it...

Also the last dungeon being a teleport maze annoys me since its a pet peeve of mine with jrpg's...

Yeah the options are slim Ive not found anything other than Digimon World.

If you do play Next Order find a grinding video. So many battles are pointless. And be prepared for a lot of grinding.

Not in the main(?) series

The ones that do that arent like normal rpgs, which cyber sleuth is closer to.

I think re:digitize (not localized) and next order are the only newer titles to do so.

cyber sleuth plays like the ds titles (world ds, dawn and dusk) just better.

I didnt notice the story being a bit heavy on my og first playthrough... but with ng+... yeah a skip button woulda been nice.

I do remember hackers memory being a lot better on that front though
