BDSP failing to address a lot of the glaring issues from the original titles just goes to show that nostalgia should take a backseat to quality of life changes.

Gameplay is still slow, and the story and region is still incredibly dull. Single-use TMs suck. Clock/Calendar-based random events that needlessly draw out the play time. The poketch's lackluster implementation.

All of the suitable content stems exclusively from changes they made from the originals. Underground caves, updated moves and types, the expanded regional and national dex, revamped Elite 4 and rematches, and hidden moves. Hell, I actually personally appreciate the EXP Share since battles are so slow that I don't feel like subjecting myself to grinding out pokemon levels one-by-one. That being said there should still be some kind of toggle for it and for the affection system for those who don't like those features.

We should have more reimagining of the worlds through remasters like ORAS in the future. HGSS are okay, but most of their praise comes from fixing all of the mistakes in gen 2, rather than trying to be unique in their own way.

Every remake is worse than the last. FRLG stayed faithful to the originals, fixed the glitches, updated the mechanics, and expanded the postgame. HGAS didn't fix most of GSCs issues but it kept what GSC did well, updated the mechanics and added a ton of content. ORAS got rid of what Emerald did best. It's arguably is not as good of a game as Emerald and BPSP is worse than Platinum.

The only time I appreciated a 1 for 1 remake was the Spyro Reignited trilogy.

Otherwise you better gimme more content to justify selling me this shit twice.

Yes absolutely. It makes forming competitive/battle tower teams a complete drag since the only renewable sources are shops and the underground, both of which require some sort of grinding to acquire.

It's not awful. I just think it could be much better with little effort.

A remake in the style of let's go minus the motion controls for throwing a PokeBall would have been what I'd prefer
