My feelings didnt really change over time, because the attacks on the base increased in frequency. I support the war ending. I dont want young guys sent there to fight an unwinnable war, and come home with PTSD. Yeah, not trusting the locals seems to be common among guys I've talked to that did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Couldn't even trust the children, because they'd be used for bombings sometimes... Sounds like a horrible experience overall. My dad (former marine) kept trying to get me to enlist around that time.
