You continuing to confront them would probably just make them less annoying. Unless you mean over little things. Then, yeah, I guess try to be less empathetic and more assertive. No one is gonna get along with you 100% of the time, its just how much and often it gets to you decides if they are still gonna be your friend. Adapt and deal or move on.
