There's an ability you unlock with the purple currency that causes you to do more damage when your cast is inside them. Does the damage increase stack for each Cast in them, or does it not matter if they have one or three?

IIRC it's just a flat amount regardless of the number of crystals

It does not stack. But it does apply to each enemy that has a blood stone in them, so spread them around

The throwing shield with Ares' Doom boon completely melts rooms and encounters. The fact that the shield has innate pierce, tracking and bounce is obscene. On top of that on this run I have lightning strikes when I dash, fog grenades as my cast, and a Duo boon that makes the fog do lightning damage in addition to stun. Really thinking I can take out Theseus this time.

I really want to do my first clear with the sword but I can't clear the third area. Any not-so-obvious advice for a new-ish player?

The minotaur's hitboxes are really dishonest.

I've gotten to Hades twice and got to his second HP bar once.

Yep amazing game. First platinum I've gotten for a game...I think ever? And I still comeback to it because the gameplay is amazing and I always want to find new super fun builds.

Also if you like Dionysus trippy shot cast (along with Zeus duo Scintillating feast that you already got), try and pick up Demeter to get her duo boon with Dionysus. Now not only do you have a cloud that shoots lightning occasionally, but the cast instantly hits an area instead of the arc shot lag AND it chills when it hits the enemy

Just keep chugging and chugging. Eventually you'll unlock new mechanics and upgrades that makes the game easier bit by bit.

What weapon do you normally use?

I've only gotten past Elysium using the shield that has Doom from Ares on the special throw

You can weave in specials and dashes. So you could start doing the special attack, then mid animation do a dash. I find that this helps a lot to wind up attacks at a safe distance and then you go in close. For me builds that are focus around the special attack are the easiest sword builds to play.

There are different versions of each weapon. The sword has a version that returns casts with your special move. So if you start a run with the item that guarantees the first god/goddess you run into is artemis, you can get the cast mod that deflects enemy projectiles. If you later get the artemis dash that deflects projectiles you can just cast dodge cast dodge your way to victory.

Always prioritize the hammer door upgrades because they modify your weapon really well. The sword has a lifesteal option that lowers base health, but if you prioritize max health upgrades you can still give yourself enough health to survive burst damage but just spam auto attack to heal if you ever get lucky enough to get the lifesteal mod.

Ares on the shield throw is a win button, provided that you have the patience to just stay the fuck away from whatever you're fighting and let Doom do its thing.

Oh you're right, my bad.

One of my goto builds that is easy to execute (imo) is combining Zeus with Poseidon. Their duo boon will zap an enemy when you knock them back, and Poseidon's legendary boon will knock everything back twice. Combine that with the hammer upgrade that makes your special hit twice and you can rack up tons of relatively safe damage with the Poseidon special. With the privileged status trait in the mirror, tagging enemies with ruptured and jolted will deal significantly extra damage.
As a third, you could dip into Ares to get Zeus's and Ares's duo boon that activates revenge boons periodically. Finally pick up Athena. Her dash alone is worth putting in every build, and Vengeful Mood with her revenge ability will negate a ton of damage.

If you want to practice movement and learning enemy patterns though, just go for a Poseidon dash build. You don't need to care about weapons or casts, just focusing on his dash (again with Zeus) is enough damage to beat the game. And you can focus completely on just controlling the distance between you and enemies.

Get Poseidon's dash attack. It causes an explosion each dash. Then try to get Hermes extra dash upgrade. It's the easiest way to win imo.

Something that's helped me and a couple of friends is realizing that higher DPS IS survivability.

If you can kill a boss in 30 seconds because of higher DPS as opposed to a minute because of building defensively that's 30 seconds less of attacks and patterns you have to dodge. This is especially noticable in Elysium and beyond where higher DPS is able to get you through boss phases much quicker and lessen your risk of death.

I know it's super tempting to stack hearts and stay healthy, but ultimately, 120 health with great DPS is tankier than 300 health with middling damage.

Dont sleep on Aphrodites attack boon. Weak may not the best status effect but it gives you the highest % damage boost.

Ares best ability IMO is blade rift on dash. That blade rift damage adds up.

Athenas call saved me in the fight against Hades. Some of his attacks seem borderline undodgeable so being able to be impervious saved my ass.

Got my first clear a couple nights ago.

Also this. The more I play the more I realize having a ton of health isnt necessary. You only need a lot of heath if youre taking a lot of hits. Instead focus on dodging/deflecting and pumping DPS.

If you ever just want to cheese to win, use this. If you keep grabbing poseidon boons to stack with your dash, you won't even need to use your weapon to win. Dash only.

They aren't as unavoidable as you think. For instance, his green shockwaves? You can dash over them. Hades is actually easier than M&T once you learn his moves.

Not talking about the shockwaves. Easiest way to avoid those is to just destroy the skulls so they dont fire. Im talking about his second stage attack where the lasers fire in like eight different directions.

Hades is the only boss that gives me trouble. M&T stopped giving me trouble once I started just taking Minotaur out immediately then eliminating Theseus.

TC just consider your play style when choosing boons. I avoid Poseidon. Knock back doesnt seem very beneficial to me.

There's two unbreakable pillars/boulders on the map that you hide behind to avoid those lasers. Sometimes you get stuck in a bad situation where there's a green pot too close and you have to take a little damage but those lasers have never really been a problem for me.

I feel dumb for never even thinking about that. I usually just keep Athenas call ready for that section and I just throw everything I got while impervious.

Ah I mentioned that cause a lot of people don't realize when first playing that you can dodge over them. For the lasers, just hide behind a rock. Lol The attack has a slow build up so there's plenty of time to hide.

I never took poseidon at first cause yeah knock back doesn't sound like anything that cool. People here kept saying how great it was so I eventually gave it a try. The splash damage when they hit a wall is what makes it. Plus the general damage from the circle surrounding you as well

I always deal with any enemy that can attack from range first. Theyre a nuisance.

I kinda see the appeal. I just like the blade rift on dash because if you place them right its constant damage.

With that dash build you just run them down before they can shoot. I used blade rift when I first started playing but noticed it left me vulnerable at times. Actually I used Aries a lot cause I thought the doom effect was amazing. Then I started seeing it's flaws that imo weren't worth it.

That's the great thing about this game. The boons are balanced for the most part so different builds/effects work for different people. My go to weapon is the shield with the Zeus aspect and Zeus boons. The special makes it a slow moving lightening tornado of death for everything on screen.

Do a Glacial Glare meme beam build, its epic af

For Hades's big fire beams you can also just go stand on top of him. I think there's a loading screen tip about that even.
