...yes, but this guy is LITERALLY posting videos of catching pedophiles that pedophiles can fucking watch and learn how to be more careful. Leave it to law enforcement. It doesn't matter that the same person gets caught, he is literally putting material out on WHAT NOT TO DO.
More than that, if you're involving a potentially abusive family member or alienating them online, it can add to their delusions. What if someone becomes violent or suicidal? The fact that they caught one person 4 times (assuming it wasn't staged) is telling that what is being done hasn't been working. Who knows how many other people could have been hurt by him in-between that we didn't see? Not only that, but we have the sex offender registry program for a good reason. Put these guys where they belong, behind bars, and not on your TV.

Did the media serial killer craze teach us nothing? Violent psychopaths and rapists ARE not mainstream entertainment material. Period

Pressing charges and visits from the cops make a difference and lead to results. That lets these pedophiles know that they're being watched & monitored. The local police and OTHER AGENCIES are proactive. Sometimes you don't even need to prove intent, and they can arrest on child pornography. These offenders tend to follow a pattern. That pattern often warrants investigation and can lead to an arrest, if not scare a would-be perpetrator straight. What needs to be addressed is the enablers. That's where we really fall short as a society, imo. These people don't come from nowhere. It's not like they're all criminal geniuses.

What's scary is guys like Epstein and Weinstein. How do these public shaming and fruitless stoning rituals empower victims and make them feel safe and comfortable coming forward to the proper authorities? Where does therapy factor into this? Y'know?

Ever heard that the abused can become the abusers? That applies in more than one way.

From what i've seen they just aren't adapting because they keep falling for it - some of these catchers are females too, and they now how to make these sorry excuse for men simp easily, and buy into them being real without so much as a face pic. It's the damdest thing.

Also, if you watch a handful of these videos the chomos follow a strange behavior pattern - they say shit like "I never done this before", "i wasn't gonna do anything", and "I came here to tell him/her it's dangerous!" You could make a bingo chart with it, but i'm just trying to say that logic goes out the window when someone is thinking with their dick. Again, these sick fucks are thinking a 14 year old is out late at night willing to meet their fugly asses at walmart.

Trust me - for all the shit the dollar store chris hansens deserve they can't give up the game because the perverts aren't looking at the cards.

Then.... Why wouldn't their efforts be better spent elsewhere? Get involved with the community and parents. When a parent sees stuff like that happen, they are more likely to crack down on what their kid does online. The more victims or near-victims who come forward sooner than later, the better. Where does this mentality of pinning everything on local police or even police in general come from? Where's the personal responsibility? Plenty of news outlets & watch groups sound the drum to great effect, and it actually reaches ears who will listen and do something about it. I just see a lot of finger-pointing and money-making. Dateline didn't exactly get a lot of prosecutions either. Publicizing tactics is a good idea?

You said it yourself. Failure to adapt. I return to my original question about consequences, arrests, reformity, and solutions. No positive response is the same as a negative response.

But hey

You do you

Well, some of these catchers were molested themselves, so beyond the clout chasing they have a batman vendetta complex about this which i can't condemn. The police system failed them from their perspective (rape reports are low iirc) given how some of them talk about it, and guess they dealing with that shit like this.

Because of 10 years of crim justice - i took on a radical mindset on crime control too, and what they do just fits with my ideals. - you can't stop crime, but contain it, keep it in check, and deter it.

  • My hometown chicago has so much inadvertent child killing now (sometimes assassination for gang affiliation) I often think about martial law. None of these wanna be thugs with guns wanna fight with that shit. But, since i live a city away it's not something i feel 100% comfortable supporting.
  • Say there is an area where crime is rampant - gangs, drugs, prostitution...Well, if 5-0 crack down hard on this area they will disperse the crime to the more peaceful areas of the city like cockroaches. Ever heard of broken window theory? My research showed it went both ways, so it's better to be a lighter influence on that area.
  • Even cops i've talked to admit this - the law is a fucking joke if you have money.

Last, you got shit like a police chief being caught - is this more your style?: https://youtu.be/ezf3oIKnxj8

Yeah. Cops arresting cops. I watch stuff like that. But it's mostly just badgecam footage. I don't care about the channel. At all.

Anyway, especially with no evidence of positive outcome, no follow-ups, nothing, I can't move past the high risk that they will reoffend (which one you directly confirmed as appearing 4 times), or that they will become violent, or double down on their efforts, or become suicidal, or get hurt by someone with these call your family segments, etc. It's the epitome of irresponsible, from a justice perspective. Not to mention freaky, and dreary. Like you said, more VICTIMS need to come forward to press charges. That's where the focus needs to be. How does this help that?

It doesn't

It's a fad. Call it what it is.

Context...Err...that dude caught 4 times is mentally handicapped, and the cops won't touch him as he's truly dangerous for weaponizing his disability for pity. - he were functional enough to go try to hook up with a minor, but then he starts ranting like a baby when caught.

I shared that video because it has news coverage (That same station reported on him after he was caught), and that dude had to go to court over being caught.

https://youtu.be/9x5IeO26iTo

Catcher attended it - Certainly high profile, but he got off with probation, and career certainly was fucked there.

Fad? Certainly, and sadly it's inevitable something bad is going to happen in this format as there have been a few incidents from this already. The need for clout, and clicks is going to bite someone in the ass if it hasn't already. Still, they will never run out of pervs to catch.
