in any sort of higher skilled position/head office type role, they absolutely do because high turnover there causes brain drain and loss of morale which companies recognise as profit drains

for your front line cashiers and other low skilled workers, they intentionally make people as replaceable as possible

also, with a week, more like 300+ have applied.
