I killed Hades and saw Persephone, but I can't tell if you're intended to keep playing for something like a true ending or if there's just extra snippets of dialogue as reward for doing more runs.

There is a lot more after that.

There's a lot more story content.

I've beaten Hades (the boss) like eight times and I'm still nowhere near the end.

You gotta meet her 10 times and then there is a prologue as well

It's not over until the credits roll.

I guess the idea of getting to the surface *again* doesn't feel as motivating as just getting to the surface.

As far as story goes you have to beat it like 10 times to get the full story.

And even though I don't think there's a story thing involved with it, you won't really have truly beaten it until you've cleared a max heat run with one of every weapon.

But the builds. And slowly raising your heat. And all the unlockable shit and relationships and dialogue!

After beating it the first time you unlock the pact of punishment which lets you slowly pile on more difficultly

Modifiers that you unlock after the 1st cleared run that make the game harder.

It's pretty much there to give you a reason to keep playing even after you've seen the full story. It's also the main way you unlock Titan Blood to upgrade the weapons since each Heat level resets the rewards you get for beating each boss.
