2 Florida Sheriff's Deputies who were in a relationship have committed SUICIDE just days apart after their NEWBORN son was born who is now an ORPHAN!!

Clayton Osteen and Victoria Pachecho were the parents who killed themselves after Clayton committed suicide first on New Years eve and then Victoria just days later

Sheriff's got a call of an attempted suicide back on November 2019 and learned it was one of their own, Clayton Osteen who was off duty at the time.

He initially survived and was taken to hospital but 2 days later his family made the decision to take him off life support.

A day later, his colleague and mother of his one month old son, Pachecho took her own life

Authorities won't say what lead to their back to back suicides but said that they often dealt with 'stress' and are 'human'

The sheriff's office can't comprehend the private circumstances that lead to this devastating loss but pray that this becomes a catalyst to help ease the stigma surrounding mental well being and normalize the conversation about the challenges they face

Osteen was a former marine who served as a rifleman with the 3rd Batallion after enlisting in May 2015

They just welcomed their son in mid-November a month before they both committed suicide

They should have taken time off to be alone together while someone watches the baby, maybe be even more intimate together on a vacation or something to relieve the stress.

Generally speaking, being suicidal entails much deeper mental health issues than just "I need some time away from my month-old kid." That's a rather staggeringly ignorant way to respond to this.

He did serve. Maybe it was some trauma from serving overseas.

Or maybe she cheated on him.

Im inclined to believe any of those before believing it was cause of stress due to having ONE child.

That was my thought. Between being a veteran and being a cop (both higher-risk groups for suicide), I suspect it was one or both of those that did him in. Presumably his wife's mental health was also in a bad place already (possibly from being a cop, possibly from post-partum depression, possibly from the stress of trying to support him as his mental health declined), and his suicide pushed her over the edge.

Really, just horribly tragic all around, and it's absurd to suggest that a nice vacation from taking care of the kid would have fixed it.

Maybe if assholes like Duckbear and his ilk weren't constantly attacking law enforcement even for things that are accidents from doing their jobs their suicide rate wouldn't be through the roof right now. Now he has the nerve to make one of his BS topics about oh how sad it is. What an ass.

US cop suicide to murder rate is very low on suicide compared to the rest of the world.

Seriously that's your measurement. Less people die by roadside bombs in the US than Syria too but does that make it ok. In 2019, 89 officers died from from accidents or felonies in the line of duty. 239 committed suicide and that's just the ones that were properly reported. Until the 2020 Law Enforcement Suicide Data Collection Act there was no required or government method to track LEO suicides. The rate is only going up. How would you feel if everyday your profession is attacked and every call you go on even if you are a good cop you are automatically accused of being dirty and being recorded, called names, and having people be combative for even just the simplest things. That shit gets to you, it builds up. My uncle was a cop for over 40 years and he was out way before all this shit started and just the normal shit they see is bad enough. Kids and women being abused, death, constantly having to deal with the negative side of life. Magnify that now with being told your a murderer or a criminal even if you haven't even shot your weapon ever, you just arrived on the scene to help someone. Its a miracle that we have anybody strong enough to be a cop anymore period. If you don't like cops next time you're in trouble don't call them try and fix it yourself. I bet you wont.

You misunderstood, I said cops kill a hell of a lot for the amount of suicides they do, it's harder to feel sympathy for people who get away with an awful lot.

The crime rate and population is also much higher in the US in all but a few countries and some of those few have incredibly strict laws where half the people who are involved in officer involved shootings would never have been out on the streets still. Try and pull some of the shit some people have priors for in a far east country. Hell, the Philippines is on the verge of reinstating the death penalty for drug trafficking, and what their definition of drug trafficking is, is very loose compared to ours. Yeah its hard to feel sympathy for people that get away with an awful lot, in this case the habitual criminals.
