I did play on the N64, largely due to my love of the original arcade cabinets for Gauntlet and Gauntlet 2

Yep. Me and a friend had a blast until the ending. It was pretty flaccid.

I was more into smash, but GL was great.

I bought it off my friend saying it was like d2 and I was pretty disappointed with the game.

I was Gauntlet IV on the Mega Drive.

Yes. Maxed out all the characters. I played that game so much.

Played the Arcade version all the time in college. It was the only non-fighting game cabinet they had. Beat the game and maxed out my Valkyrie.

Picked up Dark Legacy for Gamecube years later, but by that point I kind of lost interest and never got far in it.

I only ever played the original arcade game.

When I was a kid, my local grocery story had a little mini-arcade section, with Gauntlet, Rampage, Arkanoid, and the original Street Fighter. My mom used to take me to the store with her, and she'd give me a roll of quarters and I'd just spend my entire time there while she was shopping.

I also remember playing Discs of Tron in my local deli.

Later, when I was a bit older, I used to hang out in my local bowling alley (where they had an arcade room), and I'd play stuff like Mortal Kombat, The Avengers, X-Men, Dragon's Lair: Time Warp, Hard Drivin', and Time Traveler (and probably a few other games I'm forgetting).

Yup. N64 and arcade. Quarter water for sure.

A diner in town had the arcade machine of legends when I was a lad. Along with a Simpson's pinball machine and a light gun game called Area 51 site 4.

I wasn't a kid at the time but ya, loved Gauntlet Legends... played it with one of my bros and ma mom

Almost exact same here except it was a laundromat and they also had Ms Pac Man on a stand-up cabinet and regular Pac-Man/Galaga on one of those sitdown table style cabinets

Swap out the bowling alley for an actual arcade (RIP) in my local mall, as well as a well-stocked rollerskating rink arcade, and we basically lived the same experience games-wise.

Actually, I wasn't. I remembered it and considered mentioning it, I just didn't because none of my usual local places had it.

...but I did play it. There was a cabinet at a local restaurant/lounge sort of place, and when they had a party for my grandfather there (80th birthday, maybe? I forget the exact age), me and my older cousin spent the entire time playing it. Beat it in one go (via a constant stream of quarters).

I also left out Altered Beast and a few other games they had at my local Ground Round. And the Spy Hunter cabinet at one store I occasionally went to. The ones I named were the ones I spent the most time on.
