One million people a day are getting covid19 in USA right now.

That number is only going to go up...

That's five times higher than our previous peak that everyone was freaking out over. But it hasn't peaked yet.

I got it and Ive been super careful. The 1 time I went out after omicron was confirmed in the states I got it

Somehow still don't have it despite seeing family and going to movies all the time on top of teaching in person weekly

I accept nothing!

It's not a published study, but I have some very nerdy friends doing experiments with a friend who has it. They said you just had to be with in 10 feet of someone without a mask for 27 seconds to catch it. That if that person coughed then they created a 10 minute zone (depends on air flow) where if you entered and stood you'll also catch it.

Anyways with the lack of mask mandates and them pretending the vaccinated can't spread it, we are doomed.

Isn't weaker than previous versions? I've seen people on TV saying it may be a good thing overall if it spread but I dunno, I'm no doctor or scientist. I can't see how getting it would be a good thing.

I've seen some studies showing it's not as good at spreading inside your lungs (the thing that kills most people.)

Learn how vaccines work. No vaccine has ever been 100% effective. They have made your symptoms much milder however.

Omnicron? Is that a Transformer?

I don't even care anymore. I'm vaccinated, boosted, and wear masks when I'm supposed to.

If I get it, I get it. I don't even submit myself to testing on a regular basis, so who's to say I haven't already contracted it. Regardless, I'm not going to let this thing run the only life I have.

Fully vaccinated and boosted. I wear a mask everywhere and wash my hands religiously. I work in the health field and thankfully havent contracted the virus. It helps to not go out with friends and do family get togethers without masks I suppose. I also go on vacation once or twice a year since this started and continue my safe practices and distances around people. Im surprised I havent gotten it from fresh produce or eating out.

More likely than not. Nothing is ever guaranteed. If you are vaccinated and/or have had a prior covid infection (with any variant), your body is in a better position to fight it off - and both is better than either one alone (although catching it for the sake of gaining immunity is not a good idea for other reasons). If you take other precautions such as masks, distancing, etc, the viral load you receive if you do get exposed is likely to be lower, which means your infection will likely be less severe than it was otherwise - again, if you get infected at all (although this "if" is very likely to be a "yes, you will" with pretty much any variant that made it to VoC status, except maybe Beta). It's also looking very likely at this point that Omicron genuinely is milder (key letters "er") than previous variants, so that helps as well. No matter how safe you've been playing it and/or how vaccinated you are, isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

There is basically a 0% chance of this happening. Modern understanding is that surface-based transmission is more or less negligable, and almost all transmission of covid is via airborne particles.
