Ireland won it's independence within the last century, Scotland has repeatedly threatened to leave the union in the last 10 years.

The UK is held together about as well as the US is.

Must be all that prima nocta.

Whatever fleeting disdain (either joking or serious) Americans think they have for Mexicans, Canadians, etc is nothing compared to the centuries-old bad blood between European nations.

They still have contempt for each other at times.

Obviously not like it used to be.

But historically, England, as well as damn near every country, had always been evil land-takers.

No US State has demanded independence and I dunno of any USA territory that wants out.

Aren't those countries diverse now and super modernized now or do they still live in a very traditional way?

The English and we Scots have a love-hate relationship.

Sometimes the English love us and sometimes they hate us, while we hate the English.

Yeah I can't think of any movies that makes them the good guy in taking land. It's always the Scots and Irish that are the oppressed fighting for what's right and freedom.

Europe only recently stopped being in constant war with one another. Why would you think past hatred wasn't genuine?

Then you have the fact England did terrible things to those they subjugated, much like any other country.

It's more the fact that the federal system of government in the US seems to be losing it's grip on power.

All that's needed is the "right" president, and one state that feels sufficiently wronged, like South Carolina in 1860, to start a domino effect.

My money would be on Florida or California, Ron DeSantis is already pushing the limits of what he can do, and California's economy is large enough to support itself.
