I swear, every topic about any type of entertainment is relentlessly negative.

Idk, feel like negativity has replaced actual criticism. Everyone's just on a horse race to who can shit on a product the fastest.

Older I get the more jaded I've become with media. But I do get excited for a few things still

But then how will I be able to signal how speshul I am by shitting on popular movies and music?

I think my main issue is that it's very difficult to find something that doesn't make me think "Oh, this is just an updated/tweaked version of (insert older show/movie I've already watched)".

It's very rare for me to find something that truly original.

Nothing's original. The sooner you can switch your mindset from "is this unique and new?" to "do I enjoy this?", the better you will feel. I seek out things thay I know are inspired by other things I enjoy, because I will likely also enjoy them!

I like tons of things. I like more things than I actively dislike, for sure.

I think that, as with many things, the internet gives a skewed impression with this.

People are more likely to voice an opinion on something online if they love or hate it. If they think it was alright, they'll probably not say anything.

Also, there's always been people who don't like things, regardless of how popular they are. It doesn't mean those people are miserable. It just means the product wasn't for them.

Yeah, CE can be weirdly negative sometimes. Just don't let yourself get dragged down by it

I don't think it's replaced. I just think these people believe they're being critical without actually being good at it.

They see all these intelligent and well-produced critics and are like "I can do that" and shit talk and wonder why people hate them for it.

I rate like 90% of the video games I play 8/10 or higher, lol

Yeah, but it's shameless these days. Everything is so focus-grouped for mass appeal, it's more like they're engineered than written.
