By pointing out Sherry is infected in both RE2MAKE paths and Umbrella Chronicles AND that Capcom frequently make events of their games canon later that can't be done in one playthrough

You ignored that

Capcom have never declared one playthrough as canon and you know it. Doubling down on the hole you're digging Is insane

well Im definitely not planning on playing Claire A/Leon B after I beat Claire B, so Cap Im should have told me at the start screen if that was the recommended playthrough lol

So in this in-game universe (specifically for Remake 2), is there only one Tyrant? Or are there multiple Tyrants moving around this police station/setting?

I don't know how much of it made it into REmake2, but this is how it was in the original.

Mr. X is one of six Tyrants that were airlifted into the city. He was specifically tasked with recovering a sample of the G-Virus Birkin had hidden in his daughter's locket. The other five were sent in to kill off a Delta Force unit that were sent in by the US military to also recover a G-Virus sample. The Tyrants and the Delta Force unit end up wiping each other out. Jill comes across their bodies near the end of RE3.

So even in OG, there was only one Tyrant that the player would come across?

This is one of the things that kinda is bugging me about the Remake (a little bit in the OG version, but since it is a 20+ year old game I'm not really complaining). Because playing Leon's and Claire's story, it almost seems like there are discrepancies between certain things happening even though the events are supposed to be happening simultaneously. I just watched the Tyrant get ripped in half on Claire's playthrough by Sherry's mutant father, but in Leon's playthrough I thought the Tyrant became the super Tyrant. Or maybe he just has regenerative properties and comes back later in my Claire playthrough that I haven't seen yet..Idk.

But there have been other things that I've though "well that's kinda dumb, because if I'm doing this in Claire's playthrough, that wouldn't have worked since Leon did this" kinda thing. Like I feel like they could have done a better job making the cause and effect between Leon/Claire campaigns a little smoother.

They could have easily done something with multiple Tyrants dropping in the city, but chose not to. I think they just ran out of time and went with it.

Just finished Claire's playthrough for Remake. It was def worth going through both initial campaigns.

assuming you mean the B scenarios. not much. you get a new weapon at the start. a few new rooms are open here and there (and some areas are open who were previously only open towards one character. some minor rearranged enemies. the OG 2 i said the scenario differences were closer to 80% which they had some good differences, the Remake is more like 95% similar since they incorperated some stuff into the A scenario that were originally in the B scenarios. they probably figured most people would play the game with one character in one scenario then move on.

There is only 1

6 Tyrants were dropped.

1 chases you around RCPD

The other died of unknown causes and you see their corpses/canisters in the background of RE3.

Although these are not present in the RE3make so what Capcom considers canon is not specified, that's just how I like to see it (See Pegusus, its really not hard)

Very little

You skip the opening
New handgun
New alternate outfit
The puzzled are harder (but the same puzzles)
Tyrant chases you from the get go

But if you already played A/B as each character once , there's nothing really new to see

it's just a fun game

Yeah it doesn't make sense if you imagine both playthroughs happening simultaneously. They contradict each other.

This is why declaring one as canon is silly.

I 100% agree that they messed up by not incorporating the stories into each other. There are several points Claire and Leon could have interacted or helped/hindered each other and they just don't

Hey it's not just me. A few people in this topic say OG2 is overall better and I agreed. Don't like it? Go kick rocks.

Sure it's just kinda odd.

And the inability to elaborate on why plus the needless Pegusus level hostility makes me think rose tinted glasses

Having to play 90% the same game 4 times to get the full story and stopping every 5 seconds to open the menu or go through a door just don't hold up as good design.

RE2make's map and menu is crisp and smooth and the game is (mostly) without loading transitions

mix in better enemy AI, voice acting, smarter level design /item placements, adaptive difficulty, removal of tank controls. Re2make is just superbly designed

OG RE2 was a good game but it's undeniably dated

RE2 tends to be hailed as one of the best.

its in most peoples top 3 RE's (including mine). in general REmake 1, og RE2 and RE4 tend to be the trifecta of the series.

RE2 is popularly considered to be one of the best in the series and the best 20th century RE Game

Personally I think RE3 is better but I acknowledge how flawed it is

RE4 is popularly considered the best although that's mainly because it had great graphics om release

Personally I'd recommend RE7 ,RE8, Revelations 1+2, and RE3MAKE

Capcom is on a roll lately

5,6, 0, Umbrella Chronicles/Darkside Chronicles, Umbrella corps, Gaiden , Code Veronica, dead aim, survivor/survivor 2 are the ones that are panned as terrible

RE4 is legit great and not just because of the graphics (the PS2 port looks awful).

7 and 8 are great and REVs1 and 2 are very good as well. Oh and I prefer 3make to the original and I will die on that hill.
