No, I always main fire because fire is the best element. Fire will eat ice, earth, wind, lightning, you name it. Fire eats the shit out of it. BURN. Just fucking BURN. Burn it all to hell.

Why would I do that? The versatility of the materia system means I don't have to main any 1 element.

I can't remember having Cloud "main" anything. I just remembering having him hit things with his sword.

When it came to using magic, I rarely had anyone cast normal attack spells. It was like 90% summons and healing magic

But it's been like 22 years since I've played FFVII, so a lot of things are kind of fuzzy.

Guys, the fact that anyone knows what he means and that there is terminology for it shits all over your feign of incredulity.

There isn't one way to play the game. This Pokmon is just claiming he chose to stick Cloud with a favorite element for most of the time. It doesn't mean he always did it.

Frankfully I'm just surprised a Bulbasaur is playing video games and posting on a message board. That's pretty impressive. This isn't even his final form.

I had ice on Cloud, fire on Tifa, and everything else on Aerith!

Early on, I put lightning on him, but after you get Choco-Mog+Elemental, Wind is better for the person who is basically stuck in your party for the whole game.

I think so. I do remember that I mostly assigned Locke lightning in FFVI though, since Terra had Fire and Celes had Ice.

Only for like the very beginning. Once you leave midgar it's mostly unnecessary.
I would have to boot up my save but I think I had cloud set up as an all around magic user with Barret set up with whatever cloud didn't have.

Obviously it's always adjusting based on where you are in the game.

Not really feigned. I honestly don't understand why you would specialize in a single element in FF7. From a gameplay perspective it makes very little sense. And we know the terminology because it's common gaming terminology that exists in tons of other games, so chill.

I think you're confusing it with FF8 which had hilariously broken and stupid mechanics. FF7's were ok.

I think I just spent 200 hours leveling everyone up to max level before leaving Midgar and just beat the shit out of everything with my sword.

FFIX's mechanics are fine.
The battle's are a bit slow because it takes forever for the battles to actually load (on PS1. Sorta fixed on everything else later) but the mechanics are fine.

there were a lot of machine enemies so i probably used it on him a lot. enemy skill > anything else though.

matra magic -> aqualung -> trine rips through anything without needing an all matera if you don't feel like using summons. plus big guard and white wind. <3

I'm glad I must be too fucking dumb to understand what you guys are going on about. I played all the Final Fantasies back then when they came out day 1 and never complained a bit. Mechanics? Who the fuck even spoke about that back then. Most of us still didn't use the internet regularly. Gamefaqs didn't even have forums by then.

No, those were the PS1 days. The late 90s. I remember getting off work, driving up to the mall and buying shit with my own money. Got me some Square games and as happy as fuck.

I've been trying to get through FF8, but each time I encounter a new spell, I sit there for an hour stealing as many as I can lol.

9's mechanics were grindy, but otherwise fine. materia and espers were my favorites though.

8 and junctioning both got more hate than they deserved. they were very flawed but they were an attempt at something different. if it was made today i think it would do better and be more balanced. unfortunately that would never happen today because squeenix is garbage at almost everything they do now.
