I tried to avoid it but to be blunt we broke up 2 months ago and dates 7 years off and. Its nearly impossible to without giving 0 context to anything about my life.

Yeah, mentioning it should be fine. And if that scared her off, there is nothing you can do. But actually talking about it in any detail is different. Not sure which you did.

Im bummed, and I definitely need to consider whether I should keep even talking to my ex. I dont think that brought this upon me but its clear she lives rent free in my mind.

To be fair, women have learned to stay away from guys who just got out of a LTR. The two times I got out of them, I acted kind of cavalier for a bit.

Well I finally texted my ex today and told her I need to cut contact with her for awhile. She wasnt doing anything threatening but if girls are sniffing her on me, I cant have her in my orbit anymore.

I don't need a pep talk. I do quite well. But if you look back at my responses, I do show emotions, even early on in relationships. Women also concurrently think I'm a bad boy, so whatever that means.

If its only been 2 months then you should probably go on dates without the focus of them turning into something more than fun. Getting over a long relationship takes a lot of time. This is supposed to be the moment where you focus on yourself and have fun until the past memories start to fade. The ex has to be cut off completely or youll never be able to move on.

Also, you might as well keep the dating apps going and just screw around a little bit. If you get a match and something happens just go with the goal of having fun and that is it. Eventually you will feel better.

My reaction to break ups was to throw myself back out there and just aim for casual sex. Not saying that is a great idea, but it kept me from wallowing. The causal part didn't always work though, as I tend to start truly liking women a little too easily sometimes.
